True Natural – Certified Natural Makeup by Benecos

I have been on the hunt for an amazing, affordable, and truly natural makeup brand for a VERY long time now. (Just ask my wallet!)

Many of you know that I do not wear makeup every day. I really only wear it when I am having business meetings, special event, if I know I will be in family pictures, or if I am modeling. But for the most part, I don’t really feel like I NEED to wear makeup every single day.

ESPECIALLY after learning about all of the potentially harmful ingredients in most mainstream brands, not to mention the whole animal cruelty thing. I wasn’t big into makeup before I learned the nitty gritty behind daily makeup wear, and I still credit that to my youthful complexion. (I am 31, but most people still peg me for 17 and freak out over how young my skin looks! I am already going gray, but no wrinkles!)

Around four years ago I decided that ANY makeup I wore would absolutely have to be natural and cruelty free. Oh yeah, and it would have to be affordable! I have tried everything from Shea Moisture to Physicians Formula and everything in between, and while I have found pieces I don’t dislike, I found even more than I downright disliked, and still haven’t found anything that I have fallen in love with.

So when True Naturals by Benecos asked if I would like to try out their makeup line, I was hopeful but a very much skeptic. But I have to say… this is my favorite natural makeup brand so far, and I will buy buying from them again!

A little more about the makeup:

True Natural (CLICK HERE to visit their webpage!) is the official North American representative for Germany’s fastest growing Natural Cosmetic brand, Benecos. Offering a huge range of colors for products from lipsticks to nail polish, Benecos offers safe, natural beauty without a large wallet!

This pure plant and mineral-based brand has won awards from OekoTest, Natural Solutions Beauty with a Conscience, and Yoga Journal, and the list grows longer every week! All Benecos items are GMO, Soy, Gluten AND Cruelty-Free!

Best of all, because Benecos uses all-natural ingredients with skin-nourishing benefits, you’re actually giving your skin a treat.

Benecos sent me:

Light Mineral Foundation

This blends seamlessly with your natural skin tone, providing a beautiful matte-like finish. It’s for all skin types, including oily and blemish-prone as well as dry or mature.

•Certified organic jojoba, shea butter, and plant extracts add nourishing moisture without clogging pores.

•Natural minerals provide the naturally beautiful shades.

While it does not blend as effortlessly as some of my fall back brands I sometimes miss ever since I kicked standard makeup to the curb (like Maybelline Mousse or TruBlend Cover Girl Foundation) it does blends easily, resulting in a natural and smooth finish.

But I do like this liquid foundation! It has a wonderful liquid texture with mineral pigments giving a lightweight feel that stayed fresh all day. It diminished redness and dark shadows, although I did have to use a concealer a tad more than I would have had to with other brands. But as far as natural foundations go, this one is BY FAR my favorite and if I only buy one thing from this brand again, this would be it!

Baked Eyeshadow in Rose Quartz

Benecos has a huge range of Certified Natural, Cruelty Free Cosmetics for the eyes. From their bestselling Maximum Volume Mascara to very affordable Natural Eyeliners and gorgeous Baked Eyeshadows, Benecos has makeup for even the most sensitive eyes, including contact lens wearers.

When I wear make-up I usually go easy on eye color and keep it as natural looking as possible… just a little shimmer and a light color to make my eyes pop is enough for me! This was absolutely PERFECT, and felt great to wear. My eyes are very sensitive to make-up.. some heavy eyeshadows have given me rashy eyes and headaches before!… and this was just a dream to wear! I am pretty sure I will be using this up till I am scraping the bottom of the tin!

• Organic macadamia nut oil and organic castor oil help to create a soft velvety texture.

• The beautiful pigments are created naturally from pure minerals.

Natural Lipstick in Watermelon Red

Benecos has a shade for everyone with their wide assortment of Natural Lipsticks. Made with pure minerals to provide brilliant color and Vitamin E for natural moisture, the lipsticks are creamy, long-lasting, and packed with all kinds of good organic ingredients.

This lipstick went on smooth and evenly, and was surprisingly long lasting. The color was a little too bright for my taste (will most likely save it for pictures / modeling for that extra color), but I am happiest that this lipstick gives me peace of mind, knowing there’s not a single toxic ingredient in the tube.

• Organic castor seed and organic avocado oil provide deep moisture while organic babassu oil helps to protect the skin.

• Vitamin C and E provide gentle antioxidant protection.

I wore this trio for a radio / YouTube video with Central Valley Talk Radio when they did a feature on Gingi Freeman Photography (the interview was also broadcast in video format, so I had to look purty!) and I was very pleased with the overall look these lovely natural colors gave me! I did not look overtly dolled up, but the effect was very natural and polished!

SUPER happy to have this new brand in my makeup bag, and WILL be buying again!

I looked into this brand last year and have found an outlet close to where we are staying in Rome. I plan on buying from them as the all natural aspect really works for me.

How neat! You are so lucky to be able to buy it so close to the source! <3

I need your secret girl! I’m the same age and wouldn’t mind others mistaking me for 17 hahaha. I never took care of my skin properly and in the last year or two it suddenly hit me like a freight train and I’m scrambling to turn back the clock!

Hahaha, I used to HATE when people thought I was younger… now I don’t mind so much!! haha! 😉

Sounds like they offer great products. I like the sound of the baked eyeshadows, but I especially like that you don’t feel made up while you’re wearing it. I like something that feels natural as I don’t wear makeup that often either.

Yeah, my eyes usually ACHE with most eyeshadows.. this was really the most comfortable I have worn in a LONG time!

I love natural beauty brands, I haven’t tried anything from this brand yet but how gorgeous are these lipstick and eyeshadow. I especially liked the eyeshadow color.

I’ve heard of this brand but I haven’t tried it out yet. the fact that it is all natural is very appealing. Good to know the products you tried worked out for you. I try not wear makeup when I don’t have to either.

Glad to see I am not alone out here on this one, lol!

Now here’s something I haven’t used in years. Makeup. Applied well it’s great, but when you get old and can’t see it’s time to let the makeup go.

Now if I was still young, I would be looking for makeup that doesn’t contain horrible things. Looks like you did this very well.

    Have a fabulous day. 🙂

I still think no make up is the best make up… but for those special occasions!! I like to go safe and healthy and natural!

Hi Gingi, love that this make-up is cruelty free, will check it out as I’m not completely happy with mine, great review!

  • 20 February, 2017 at 11:36 pm

I’ve never heard of Benecos but it sounds pretty awesome. I’m familiar with all of the ingredients in the products. That’s pretty uncommon and a huge selling point. I’m forwarding this post to my bestie 🙂

  • 21 February, 2017 at 12:21 am

Awesome brand. I love that it’s cruelty-free. I don’t wear makeup often either. I want to experiment a bit more, but I still won’t be wearing it every day I’m sure.

    • 21 February, 2017 at 5:06 pm

Yeah, I do not intent to wear makeup every day.. but its all the more reason to invest in quality when you DO wear it!

  • 21 February, 2017 at 1:24 am

This sounds fantastic! I’m always looking for natural, affordable makeup, but it’s so hard to find. The eyeshadow is so pretty 🙂

I, too, have been hunting for the perfect makeup for a long time. Okay, not really. Believe it or not, I don’t wear any.

  • 21 February, 2017 at 11:29 am

We have benecos in Germany, too, but I have never tried their products so far.

I, for the most part, use organic and all natural skincare and makeup because I too learned of all the harmful ingredients that are in most of the popular brands and how they can make their way into our bloodstream and cause all sorts of hormonal imbalances. That said, I’ve only ever loved Mineral Fusion, a brand sold at Whole Foods. I’ve never head of True Natural before. It doesn’t seem as though they’re available in the States, I hope they are because I’d love to have a second affordable and organic brand to try! Thanks for sharing, girlie, and I hope you’re having a great start to your week so far!

    • 21 February, 2017 at 5:08 pm

Ohhhh, I will have to check out Mineral Fusion, have not tried that one yet!!

  • 22 February, 2017 at 5:31 pm

I haven’t heard about this brand before, but good to know that it offers natural products to makeup 🙂

  • 22 February, 2017 at 7:51 pm

I’ve heard about the brand but never tried any of their products. I have to do that some time.

  • 23 February, 2017 at 5:45 pm

    gorgeous products, love benecos
    new post on my blog
    have an happy day, kisses

I would love to be able to do the same choices that you did but unfortunately, in Portugal, there isn’t a lot to choose from in that area. There are so little good natural brands and they are all expensive.

  • 24 February, 2017 at 10:46 pm

That sounds like a good brand of make up.

  • 27 February, 2017 at 12:34 pm

Gingi it’s great you found a great alternative that’s not too expensive. I’m totally against animal testing for make up… I buy brands that don’t but they probably aren’t organic enough. ♡

The Baked Eyeshadow in Rose Quartz looks really pretty, subtle and feminine – I’m not surprise you’ll be wearing this one a lot! 🙂

  • 2 March, 2017 at 12:28 pm

Big fan of natural cosmetics – have not heard of Benecos before but I like products that have been tested and approved by Oeko Test. I have a lot of Dr. Hauschka products that I love and would very much like to try Benecos range as well.

    • 3 March, 2017 at 4:42 pm

Ohhh, I will need to try that brand! Always looking for natural solutions to skin care and cosmetics!
