WonderCon 2014 in Anaheim, California

DSC_2034

We weren’t sure if we would be able to make it to this years WonderCon, but my mum decided to grab us three day passes just in case. So when Jonathan got his orders, and was able to take leave over this weekend we were pretty frikkin’ ecstatic. This is the first convention we went to NOT in cosplay in.. well.. I think EVER. We really wanted to do Willow cosplay (Sorsha, Madmartegan and Elora Dannon) but we ran out of time and cosplay funds to make that happen in time.
This was baby girls third convention in her short seven months of life, so I’m pretty sure that makes us epic geek parents (or something). I enjoyed walking the floor – despite having no monies with which to buy all da goodies – and we sat in on a couple of panels. Nothing spectacular happened panel or autograph-wise, (is it just me or did this year mostly consist of fan based panels and the same old stars??) but it was still a great weekend!
Here are a few of the shots I grabbed over the weekend. If you spot yourself, feel free to grab a copy of the image, link back to me, and comment below to say hi!

Okay, I have to check this thing out next year. It seems like half the people I know online and offline were posting pictures of it on Facebook the last few days.

Awesome. We went to the Natural Product Expo in Anaheim last year, so my girlfriend owes me.

        Belated welcome back to California.

1st: I’m insanely jealous but I’m so glad you got to go. I’ve never been to any convention (I know- how can I call myself a geek), but there isn’t anything big close by in Central NY and life has thrown me way to many curve balls in the past so money is always an issue. But enough whining-I’m officially starting a fund so that I can make a convention within a year, your photos are great and you sound like awesome parents. 🙂

You’ll have to make it a BIG fund.. first time con going it EXTREMELY expensive! First, you’ll want to go for the WHOLE time.. if it’s a 3 or 4 day Con, you’ll need to go all the days to soak everything up. Next, you’ll want to buy ALL DA THINGS and get ALL DA AUTOGRAPHS. That’ll cost you an arm and a leg and your firstborn. And lastly, you won’t know all the trick to avoiding the redunkulous costs of Con food, so by the time it’s all said and done.. well, it ain’t pretty! But once you’ve seen one, you’ve really seen them all, just with variations in guests and panels. Oh, and also.. you’ll be hooked. Haha! But you really should try to go!! They’re so fun!
