The Biggest Little City in the World – Reno, Nevada

DSC_3286
When I first started shooting destination weddings, I advertised pretty much anywhere and everywhere that looked fun. (It’s hard to be picky when you’re a travel bug!) After a year or two, however, we soon found our favorites.
Now there are area where I pretty much keep a standing advertisement for wedding photography, and Reno, Nevada is one of these locations. Jonathan and I have been there many, many time to photograph wedding, but I only realized till just recently that I never took the time to post some photos of one of our regular working vacation spots!
We took these photos on our last trip to The Biggest Little City in the World, and it was ironically enough our least memorable, haha. We always do super secret saver hotels on hotwire.com, (it’s like gambling with hotel rooms!) and this time we got a dive. Then we had NO luck with the slots (we usually break even or come home with more money!) and people were being super stingy with the usual free drinks at the slot machines. That, and I got carded like a bazilliondy times.
But of course it was still fun! We had our usual Awful Awful burger at the Nugget and walked the strip people watching and having a kid-free date before getting to work later in the evening.

That burger looked ‘awful messy’! I’ve never stayed/played in Reno. Been there a few times when I was a kid, or when traveling to some place else, but never as a destination. I’m still hording my ‘winnings’ (that you won for me) for whenever we finally get to go to Disneyland!

In all honesty, I like Vegas better… but the drive to Reno and surrounding area is so much nicer!

I went to Reno eons ago as a family trip. I think it was my first year out of college and we did San Fran, Napa Valley and then drove to Reno, Take Tahoe. If I remember correctly it was the last trip we took like that as a family ๐Ÿ™ It was great though. I remember being fascinated with Reno!

Gingi, I have never been to Reno… but my older sister lived there for many years and my oldest daughter traveled there often for work… They both loved it so much. Too bad about the dive hotel… I hope the next one is better xox

I don’t think I’ve ever been.. I’ve been to Lake Tahoe but everything on the California side. The bright and swirling colors look so appealing.

I have totally never seen Reno but would love to visit! The travel bug will bite again…..someday. My sister just got married and flew her photographer from San Diego California to Buffalo, NY. Um, hello expense. But I guess the husband and wife team were worth it.They were excited to see Niagara Falls so it all worked out.

I’ve never been to Reno but it looks amazing. I’ve been to Las Vegas a few times and it’s always a good time. The time I went there was a number of years ago for a Star Trek convention. Really the only thing that can take Las Vegas over the top for me would be a Star Trek convention! Where are some other places that you shoot for destination weddings? Have you ever done Hawaii?
