So I just popped a tiny human out of my nether regions two weeks ago, and focusing on a weight loss routine is quite honestly one of the LAST things I want to do at the moment.
And with the holidays upon us, I don’t want to START a weight loss routine amidst baked goods, and Starbucks specialty drinks and my favorite recipes at family gatherings.
So I have decided to push weight loss and dieting and healthy living from my mind, and then do the typical all American end of the year pastime… NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS!!
I am going to launch into a hard core, detailed weight loss, fitness and wellness routine starting January 1st. And I am arming myself with the tools to succeed. I have already bought a quality Smart Scale that syncs to my Fitbit. I already bought a brand new Fitbit. I have my list of health tools to buy and aquire before the new year… so when I saw a Facebook ad for Smart Pants by Like A Glove… I knew I HAD TO have a pair and give this new gadget a try!
Ever heard of these before?? Check it out!!
Smart Leggings That Measure You!
Smart leggings by Like A Glove (CLICK HERE to visit their website!) measure your shape in 5 seconds and send the data via Bluetooth to their free app. Their free app also helps you to find jeans that fit, so they work double duty as a fitness and weight loss charting tool, AND as an online shopping tool to find the PERFECT jeans for your style preference and measurements!
Basically, the app matches your measurements against individual jean’s, allowing you to find brands, models and sizes that will fit your shape best. You can browse the recommendations, find a pair you like, and then click through to purchase from that retailer! The app includes a wide variety of brands and models, including Levi’s, Lucky Brand, Banana Rep., Old Navy, 7 For All Mankind, Gap, Citizens of Humanity, Joe’s, Paige, J Brand, American Eagle, Ann Taylor, True Religion, AG, Hudson and more.
But the aspect that I am most excited about, is the ability to chart your fitness and weight loss progress! You can use the garment to measure yourself from time to time and keep track of your body shape changes. If you work out and lose a pound of fat, but gain a pound of muscle, the scale would say nothing has changed. With these smart pants, the app lets you track your body shape changes and keeps your motivation high.
So how does it work? GREAT question! The garment is comprised of elastin and nylon, and is covered with conductive fibers for measurements. It is not intended for daily wear and should serve only for measuring yourself from time to time. The leggings are eco-friendly and turn off automatically after 5 minutes idle time and will last for a total of 500 measurements. (That’s over 5 years even if you measure yourself once a week.)
The garment can stretch to fit waist / hip sizes from ~24” up to 52″. (With time, they plan to add a plus size version that will fit even larger sizes.) Lastly, the smart garment is water resistant – not waterproof – and will not be able to endure a washing machine. However, since you will only wear the garment for a few minutes a session, there is no need to wash them!
My Thoughts on the Smart Pants
First of all, I just like saying “smart pants”. I mean, come on. Say it. “Smart Pants”. It’s just oddly satisfying. Smart Pants. Smart. Pants.
Okay, now that THAT is out of my system, let’s get nitty gritty!
So I have to admit, those little wire lines secured in the elastic with a zig zag stitch made me nervous when I saw them online. As a hobby seamstress myself, I just had flashbacks of my experience sewing the 1980’s TRON costumes, where we secured reflective wire on elastic fabric. With close to NO give, the garment was hell to put on, hell to move around in, and God forbid you sneeze, laugh or breathe in it – the wires had no give and would literally snap with too much pressure.
The measuring wires in these smart pants, I am happy to report, are NOT stiff, taut or hard to stretch at all!
These bad boys are sturdy and solidly made. Overall, it is a strong garment that offers enough stretch and give that they are easy to put on, easy to take off, and at NO POINT do you feel like you might rip them or harm them in any way. If you did not know any better, you would just think the measurement wires are decorative or functional waistband elastic!
Once on, the actual measuring process is insanely simple. Download the app (easy peasy, who hasn’t downloaded an app before? Haha..) and then stand still, push the big orange button (a green light starts blinking to let you know it’s working) and 5 seconds later your detailed measurements pop up in your app! And I do mean 5 literal seconds later. It works insanely fast!
The measurements were accurate as well – which was fairly depressing for me. I have a tendency to put on WAY too much weight with pregnancy (damn those pregnancy cravings!!!) and I didn’t fully lose the weight between my three pregnancies. But now that we have had our little mister, we are DONE have children after Baby #3! I am determined to get my pre-baby body back, and I know that being able to chart my progress in detail with these smart pants will be a great motivational tool this coming new year!!
So just a heads up to all ya’ll… I will be sharing my Fitbit, Smart Scale AND Smart Pants measurements with each of my weekly fitness progress updates starting in January of 2018! Cheer me on, yeah?!

Quite interesting!
Meanwhile, I think I’ll stick with my leggings.
* love *
I am pretty sure I am going to be addicted to these things during my weight loss journey! hehe…
It looks good on you and the fitting seems right… i will check them out.
Hahaha, I totally debated wether I should post the pictures of me actually wearing them.. this is the largest I have ever been! UGH!!!
I would not mind using the app to find the perfect fit for jeans, something I really struggle with.
Yeah, if this catches on, it really could revolutionize online shopping!
Interesting invention 🙂
Right?!
What an innovative idea, thanks for the info!
Have a lovely day 🙂

No problem, thanks for stopping by and showing my blog some love dear! <3
I have a wrist tracking by Michael Kors it’s convenient to put on and go. This is s interesting way to go about tracking not for me.
I am planning on pairing this with my Fitbit and Smart Scale to get a full body tracking of my fitness progress, with minimal effort, haha! <3
😉
Bem interessante!

Oh, how interesting! I’d never heard of these before. I like that it has such accurate measurements and lets you know if you’re gaining muscle and not just fat.

Very interesting! Finding the perfect fit can be such a challenge, this is such a cool idea.
Yeah, I will let you know how it works out for me! <3
I do like the idea of these Gingi and should be ready, like you, in January to try with m New Year’s Resolutions! With baby up all night I confess I’m struggling to loose the baby weight the 3rd time around 🙁
Yeah, I am a little freaked out about staying focused with THREE tiny humans to distract me now! Ugh! Wish each other luck?!?!
I’ve heard of this, but I’d never read a detailed explanation. Love it. Sounds actually quite helpful. Best of luck on your goals. I have full confidence you will succeed! Psst…also I love you Mom Life shirt.
Haha, thanks, my mom gave me that shirt when I was in the hospital after delivering Rowan as a babywarming gift! Haha! I have worn it more in the past two weeks than I care to admit.. 😉
Sounds really interesting!
Kisses, Paola.
Thanks Paola! <3
This actually sounds really cool to me and if I wore legging I’d totally check it out.
They are just for measurements, not every day wear… great for a weekly measurement check!
That sounds awesome! Something we need in our house 🙂

Let me know what you think if you ever give it a try! <3
I’m not sure I want pants that measure me. Do they also judge me, too? Put that doughnut down!
LOL, I think I might actually PAY for pants that reminded me to eat healthy, haha.. 😉
These pants are so slick- what a cool idea!
-Ashley
Yeah, I am REALLY looking forward to using these for my weight loss journey!
Haha, sounds about right to start in January AFTER the festive food is in the past – there’s always so much tasty food around in December! Arming yourself with great equipment in the meantime is such a good idea 🙂

Yeah, if I tried it during the holiday season, I would just be dooming myself to failure, haha..
that’s VERY handy! i don’t think i’ve ever had a pair of pants that actually fit me (or a bra either, but that’s another story altogether!) and i’d definitely give this a try!
OMG, I would SO buy a bra one of these!! ahaha!! That would be a godsend!
I am interested in these pants… before I buy pair, I would like to take a few pounds off. I want to make a commitment to myself this year as well, now that I have found some pills that are helping the never ending pain I have been dealing with, I think I can actually make that commitment to get myself in shape again. Last time I lost the weight rather quickly, this time I plan to take a couple of years and take if off slower… I will be cheering you on this new year for sure Gingi xox
Ohhhh, we can cheer each other on!! And and I am SO SO happy to hear that you have had a breakthrough in your pain management. Let’s keep each other accountable to our goals, yeah? <3 *hugs*
these sound so cool!! i hate shopping so i tend to buy things that i don’t love in order to just get it over with (ie the last pair of jeans i got might have been too short and i didn’t realize until after i ripped the tag off oops). and i love that it’s an easy fitness tracking tool, too!
These could seriously simplify clothes shopping, for sure!!
Wow! I’m totally amazed by the things people come up with these days, and I would totally try these! Very cool! Hugs…RO
Right?!?! I am super excited to put these to the test!
