2018 is here! This is the very first year with our COMPLETE family! Little baby Rowan is here and we are now a family of five… the Freeman Five? Whoa.
Anyway, I am done having babies. And I am ready to get my pre-pregnancy body back for good. It really does go WAY beyond just losing weight to look and feel good. It is a whole body health I am after – mind, body and spirit.
Instead of just one New Year resolution, I have like… a bazilliondy. Some are things I already do / used to do. Some are entirely new. All are designed to clean up my life and help me to THRIVE.
Oh! And that reminds me! My word for the New Year is.. you guessed it… THRIVE!!!
I will have plenty of opportunities to grow this year, with two toddlers, an infant, and news that my husband is set to deploy for the first time with the Navy this year. *tries not to freak out* I am determined to be the best me I can be, by getting back to the basics and living a healthy, natural life.
So here is my monster list of resolutions, intentions, plans and goals. You ready? *deep breath* HERE WE GO!
Go on the South Beach Diet and focus on real, whole, raw and natural foods.
Take a daily multivitamin, Omega-3 supplement, and probiotic.
Weigh in daily and chart fitness and wellness progress and goals.
Replace all of my beauty and self-care products with safe, natural and chemical free products.
Focus on one to two new areas of improvement every two weeks, for two weeks solid. (For instance, this week I am focusing on getting my feet baby soft, and supporting my thyroid!)
Go to the gym 3 times a week and spend 15 minutes in the sauna after each workout session.
Do 10 minutes of yoga / stretching daily.
Set a daily affirmation and repeat it throughout the day.
Start the day in prayer and Bible study.
Go to church each Sunday and get the kids involved in church activities like Awanas.
Wear my fitbit and aim for daily step and movement goals.
Drink filtered water… and drink enough of it!
Get at least 7 hours of sleep each night.
Avoid BPA in canned foods.
Eat organic, non-GMO, grass fed, unpasteurized and wild caught as often as possible.
Switch to raw milk.
Stop eating all soy products.
Stop drinking sodas.
Walk barefoot outside whenever you can.
Stop using over the counter pain medications.
Get 15 minutes of outdoor sun daily.
Use natural air purifiers while cleaning (beeswax candles, salt rocks, open windows, odor eliminator, plants and air purifiers).
Only use organic feminine hygiene products.
Switch completely to Norwex microfiber cleaning cloths and cleaning products.
Stay up to date on natural living events and news.
Take CreativeLive classes 5 days a week.
Stop using reusable straws, only stainless steel straws to help eliminate waste.
Thoroughly prep surfaces, wash hands, and wash all produce before cooking.
Stay on top of the housecleaning.
Read a chapter from a favorite book at least once a day.
Use aromatherapy with a cool mist diffuser throughout the day.
Huge list? YES. Is there more I forgot to add? You betcha!! Do I got this? Well, I am sure I’ll falter and fail and suck here and there, but for the most part… yeah. I got this!
I can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store. It’s going to be our first major “hard” year as a Navy family, and I am setting myself some hefty goals. Cheer me on and send me some good vibes, yeah?
Woow a lot of resolutions my dear! In the last month I started to have health problems, care for them is my main point this year. Happy New Year my dear!
Self care is SO important.. it is usually the first thing I drop from my schedule when it gets busy. 🙁 Good luck on your resolutions! <3
Happy New Year Gingi! Thanks for the birthday wishes! This is a great list! I’ve been trying to use more natural based skincare and makeup products etc too. I start my day off in prayer and I try to read the Bible. I find so much peace and serenity doing those things. Good luck with your goals!
If you are looking for natural beauty products, I would check out the EWG Skin Deep database.. it gives a breakdown of ALL ingredients in beauty care products! It is SO helpful to me! Good luck with your goals too my dear! <3
WOW good luck on that list. You might want to try the meditation app ‘Calm’, been doing it regularly for 2-3 weeks now and love it. Just my 2 cents but the weigh-in should be weekly for a healthy regular monitoring. Daily can be demotivating and inaccurate. Happy New Year!
I am OCD, so I have to weigh in daily.. haha.. I don’t let the ups and downs get to me! I just like to see the scale creeping in the right direction. 😉 And I have actually tried that app, and LOVE IT!! <3
I just found your site while looking for how to clean a wool rug (a 2014 post of yours) and read your about page and fell in love with this fun, young, healthy, grab life by the horns and hold on tight Christian Gal. And thought gee, how’s she doing now that it’s been a few years since this 2014 post? Is she still posting?
And my second thought was, I would love to blog but I don’t know what to blog about – wow look – she blogs about everything! Hey that’s cool!
All that to say, you are a wonderful encouragement living life as you do, and simply THANK YOU for Sharing life with all of us. As to your goals, love them. Most are similar but Also cover more areas like finances, travel etc. Physical, spiritual, mental, health, food. And fun. Yay. A little if everything. Have a great 2018 and look forward to seeing your success, and encouraging when there are setbacks. Ok, off to yoga, then to finish taxes, then hopefully to start habits for the other goals for 2018! We can do this!
Ps – I don’t have a blog but love yours!
OMG, your post literally made my whole day!!! *hugs* And you have to, have to, HAVE TO start blogging, I would totally be your biggest cheerleader / fan / internet friend! hehe! And as to that wool rug… we finally deep cleaned it, rolled it up, and stashed it in the garage until the kids get out of “destroy all the things” mode… breaks my heart, but I would rather put it into hibernation than let it be destroyed! lol. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep in touch! <3 <3 <3
I wish you luck with your goals.
Thanks Mary! <3
So nice that you are now complete with the baby – 5, it’s a nice number for a family! It’s lovely to have siblings, I am sure your kids love that! It’s a huge list, it’s true 🙂 But a nice one! I am with you for no soda, supplements, and mindful living. with some goals every 2 weeks! Loved to read your list and to think about life as well! And your husband set to sail, I am sure you will manage it well, but hope he comes back soon! Happy 2018, hope you and your family have a great year, drear friend!

Thanks you Denise!! I will be blogging A LOT MORE with hubby sailing off! Keep me company while he’s gone?!?!?!
A lot of goals, but you got this! And it seems like accomplishing some will lead into others, which is good. I love your word for the year – mine is Adventure, as you know. I don’t have a ton of set in stone goals, but there are things I want to accomplish or at least keep up with like being more active and eating healthier. I did well last year, but I want 2018 to really be a year for all of that!
-Lauren
Haha, I ALMOST stole your 2018 word.. but thrive seemed to fit more for my situation… Adventure is probably a good one for my husband!! haha!
Happy New Year, beautiful! All of your resolutions sound wonderful and practical enough, so I know you can and will do it! I made the switch to mostly organic and all natural makeup, though not everything is, a few years ago and I feel so much better knowing that what I mostly put on my skin is actually good for it. Thanks for sharing and I hope you have the most amazing and blessed 2018!
XO,
Jalisa
You too my sweet friend! <3
fantastic goals, and smart of you to list them here–you’re far more likely to stick to them if you have all of your readers holding you accountable! 🙂
Yeah, I swear this whole blog is my collective accountability buddy! haha!
My thanks to you and your husband for his service to our country, Gingi. He might be going out, but you’re the one who’s holding down the fort on the home front.
My admiration and appreciation knows no end, friend.
You’re in my prayers …
Thank you Linda, that is so kind!! Keep me in your prayers for sure!!

I can doooooo eeeeeeet!!!!!! 😉
Wow, that’s quite a list. We stick to a Mediterranean diet which is well balanced enough so that we don’t need multivitamins. Our goal this month is to lose the December kilograms we picked up. Good luck achieving all your goals and I will hold positive thoughts for your husband.
That sounds interesting, I never heard that you don’t need multivitamins on the Med. diet???
All the best in finishing all these
Thanks!! <3
Happy new year! And good luck with your resolutions 🙂
You too Annika!! <3

Happy new year Gingi! Good for you and good luck with this! 2018 is all about wellness for me as too!
Happy New Year! LETS DO IT!!! <3
Well aim high or don’t aim at all Gingi! Seriously, this is a great list. I didn’t make a ton of resolutions but starting the day with reading the Bible and a cuppa tea is at the top. And in prayer, I know what prayer can do and need to devote more time to it. And I’m committed a a Wednesday night women’s Bible study. A big stretch for this homebody won’t–leave-the-house women. ANd yes yes yes to Awana and getting the kids more involved in church!!!
Lets hold each other accountable, yeah?!
That’s a pretty serious list of resolutions!
My resolution is to eat more chocolate.
Hahaha, me too actually! ANTIOXIDANTS!! 😉
Happy New Year and I hope you and your family continue to thrive in 2018 and beyond.
