So I knew next to nothing about green / natural / “crunchy” living up until I had my first daughter. Before that tiny human rocked my world, I was blissfully naïve to the nuances of greening up my home and my environment.
When I was pregnant and researching how to make my home as safe and clean and healthy as it could possibly be for a tiny new human, I learned of the many toxins hiding in indoor air.. and I also discovered the natural air freshening properties of bamboo charcoal. I had never ever HEARD of bamboo charcoal before then!
Starting from never giving a rip about green living and natural home cleaning efforts to going 100% all in in the space of a nine month pregnancy, I had a host of things to focus on to improve my home keeping efforts. And while I decided over four years ago that I would be investing in some quality bamboo charcoal for freshening and purifying my indoor air…. I never did get around making the bamboo charcoal switch!
But now here I am with baby #3, and I can’t stop thinking about bamboo charcoal! (It’s my end of the year organizing kick I am on.. I can’t help myself!!) So I went on a quest for bamboo charcoal to green up my home to start 2018 on a fresh foot!
Why Natural Air Purification Methods?
Many air fresheners on the market don’t really clean the air. At all. They are just loaded with toxic and often carcinogenic chemicals such as formaldehyde, petrochemicals, p-dichlorobenzene and aerosol pollutants.
While there are many air purification efforts, including live plants, beeswax candles and salt lamps, studies are increasingly shedding light on bamboo charcoal as an air purifier. Bamboo charcoal pulls toxins out of the air, removes odors and makes it safer to breathe indoor air.
Bamboo charcoal air purifying bags are the easiest way to maintain a fresh, dry and odor free environment. Plants need water, fertilizer and light, beeswax requires a fire and supervision. But without using batteries or wires, bamboo charcoal bags will work continuously to remove odors, allergens and harmful pollutants from the air. In damp, musty environments the bags will absorb excess moisture to prevent mold, mildew and bacteria from forming.
I am currently using the Moso Naturals brand bamboo charcoal bags to freshen the air in my car, and in the closet drawers in my closet. The Moso Bag is a pretty linen bag filled with non-toxic, chemical free and fragrance free moso bamboo charcoal.
The folks at Moso Naturals searched the U.S. and abroad looking for healthy options for air purifiers, and that is when they found Moso bamboo charcoal in China, where it is called “black diamond.” They found it to be a perfect air purifier: eco-friendly, sustainable, affordable, and so safe that in parts of Asia people use it not only to purify their air but for water purification and they ingest it to help detoxify the body.
They conducted research and testing and found that bamboo charcoal works incredibly well to remove odors, bacteria, harmful pollutants and allergens from the air. On top of that, it is a natural dehumidifier, helping to prevent mold, mildew and excess moisture. They introduced the Moso Bag to the American market in August 2010 with considerable success, and the rest is history! CLICK HERE to visit their website.

How to Use the Moso Bag
To use, simply place the Moso Bags in or near the area where you want to prevent odors / clean the air. Within a short time (usually less than 1 day) the affected area will be fresh, dry, and odor free!
Best of all, the Moso Bags are reusable for up two years! (Contrast that to most common air fresheners that don’t last more than 45 days!) To keep the bag working properly, once a month simply place your Moso Bag outside. The UV rays from the sun will clear out the pores of the bamboo charcoal, making it ready to absorb again.
After two years as an air purifier, the Moso Bag makes a wonderful addition to your garden – simply cut open the Moso Bag and sprinkle the bamboo charcoal into the soil, where it helps plants absorb moisture and nutrients. This completes its lifecycle as a product that comes from the earth and ultimately gives back to the earth!

I think I am driving my husband crazy with my quest for clean and fresh air, haha… 😉
i swear that you review the coolest things! charcoal seems to be huge in the food space recently (i’ve been seeing charcoal lemonade pop up everywhere, or charcoal colored ice cream/ice cream cones), but for some reason i never associated it with air purification.
Really?! I haven’t seen that… I never associated it with food! lol!
I would use the bigger bag in the bathroom

Wow, this sounds amazing! I use mostly natural and organic beauty products and eat mostly plant based during the week, so I’m trying, haha. This sounds like such a great way to truly purify the air, especially with a baby in my home now. I’ll have to look into this and tell my mom, too, who’s also into this lifestyle. Thanks for sharing, babe, and I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!
XO,
Jalisa

Hello! Thank you for your lovely words on my blog! I must say and ask whether you could read my latest post, that WAS NOT the math problems one 🙁 My blog has been hacked a couple of times by malicious people that I even know – it’s a blogger who can’t stand when people leave me comments. I don’t know how to solve this now, I tried to ignore her and so she would forget me, but she seems not to. I can only pray that one day she ends this obsession. Anyway. if you wish to read the real post this week, and share your opinion, that’s this 🙂
