If your linen closet is cluttered and overflowing with bed sheets, have I got a challenge for you! It’s time to unclutter and organize your collection!
My family of five has a king size bed, a full size bed, a twin be and a baby bassinet – and our children like to pee on / in ALL OF THEM. So we are up to our eyeballs in extra sheet sets and mattress protectors.
It got so bad that earlier this month before organizing my bedding, I could not even CLOSE the hall closet where we store our linens. (I wish I had taken a before picture, but I was honestly too embarrassed to show my before! Haha..)
Interested in organizing your bedding? Take this 2 step challenge!
1. Purge your collection.
Start by sorting through your sheets and pulling out any that don’t match, are stained, damaged, or shouldn’t be in circulation. Be honest about what you use and what you need. Donate or repurpose what you don’t want anymore = Pinterest is a great resource for DIY projects using old sheets. Also, keep in mind if you have sheets you wish to purge from your collection that are not in the best shape for donating to Goodwill, these can usually can be donated to a local animal shelter.
2. Get storage containers.
This step is pretty much the one that will take your closet from manageable to epic and streamlined. Once the number of linens for each bed is down to a manageable amount, you’ll need to decide how you want to store them. If you’re like me and have multiple sets of sheets for each bed, you’ll want to have a box with a lid to hold the sets not in circulation. This will keep the sheets from collecting dust and make sure they’re fresh and ready to use when needed.. and since you can organize boxes by what bed they belong to, there is no getting different bed sheet sized mixed up and jumbled together!
For my hall closet, I am using large foldable storage boxes with lids from SONGMICS. These boxes are small enough to fit in my old built-in-the-1950’s hall closet, but large enough that one box easily fits two sets of king size sheets (and keep in mind I am folding them the lazy way, so they are not crazy compact).
I would HIGHLY recommend picking up some storage bins from SONGMICS.. I discovered this brand quite recently, and while I initially reached out to them requesting product to raffle off on my blog, I have since purchased multiple items of theirs off Amazon to assist me in my end of the year organization. I’m not just reviewing sponsored product here, this is one of my go-to brands that I am acquiring out of pocket now. Their products are affordable and fantastic quality!

A perfect organization to stored what ever you need.
Wow looks like they really make a difference. I just reorganized our linen closet last week and there was a major purge involved ;p
I seriously wish I had taken a “before” picture!
If I won, I would use the boxes in my spare bedroom’s closet
these boxes look so helpful! i think just the hiding of the sheets so you can’t see them as soon as you open the closet makes it already look so much more organized (:
Same here!! Even though it is taking up similar space, it just gives a streamlined appearance!
I think a lot of people could use these.
I really like those. I shall have to invest in some when I get a linen cupboard.
What are you using in the meantime??

I love these storage bins!!! What a great prize Gingi. Awesome. Just to add to your sheet comment, we find ourselves painting our walls again and again (I think it has something to do with my 5-year-old who was practicing her “S” in the kitchen with a Sharpie marker. Anyhow, old and stained sheets make wonderful paint drop clothes!!
What a great idea!! Wonderful way to upcycle!
Those are great tips.
What great tips!
Merry Christmas and happy New year!

I’ve had fun organizing closets for my mom in recent visits. It’s so satisfying to re-group things, to get rid of what doesn’t work any more, to make the necessary things accessible for her.
I hope your Christmas was wonderful, friend …

The Glossychic
Oh nice and organized! I store my linens in wicker baskets in my bathroom closet. My house is full of various bins and baskets for organizing. I don’t know how I managed without them.
