I am just about as patriotic as they come. No joke.

I am the tearing up at the National Anthem, celebrate our Independence, American pride to the max type of girl. It helps that my dad has served in law enforcement and my husband is active duty military – and is in, in fact, set to deploy in a month.

When the men and women serving to protect your freedom are so near and dear, you can’t help but bleed red, white and blue.

I have been meaning to trick out our house with some classy patriotic symbolism (American flag on the front porch, star and stripes on display, etc.) and so I was VERY thrilled to receive this American Bald Eagle Pure Copper Weathervane Sculpture by Good Directions for my fireplace mantel.

At first I thought I would pull it out for the Fourth of July only, but once I had pulled it out of the box and set it proudly on the mantel, now I think it’s a good year-round addition to our home!
