As a blogger, I naturally love oversharing with strangers on the internet.
While I’ve been sharing my weight loss and fitness journey here on Domestic Geek Girl for a while now, I have JUST TODAY decided to create a fitness journey Instagram account. (Well, technically I made this Instagram – @PNW_Terrior – when I first moved to the PNW as a way to journal my life in the PNW, but now it’s going to be wellness oriented!)
Sharing photo and video updates on Instagram with relevant hashtags is a great way to keep yourself motivated, track your progress, and interact with other people in the fitness community. Instagram has long been a channel for people trying to lose weight, live healthy and feel inspired while doing it.
If you’ve been thinking about starting a personal fitness journey Instagram, or if you already are, please share your account in the comments so we can all follow each other!
Here are a few things I wish I had done when I started this journey at the beginning of the year:
I wish I had asked my husband to take pictures and videos of me from several angles from the very start.
I am already wishing I had some clear and concise images that I could for before-and-after photos. Short videos of you working out, or wearing certain outfits, are SO HELPFUL in helping you track your progress.
I wish I had photographed my meals from the start.
I refrained from photographing my food because I felt like I would be too cliché, or bugging my friends and followers. But MAN is it helpful, and makes food presentation fun and exciting.
I wish I had reached out to Instagrammers I cyber stalked sooner.
I am the ultimate in cyber stalking people and not liking, commenting or engaging. I know, I’m lame. Now as I’m getting engagement on my Instagram and building digital friendships, I’m wishing I had reached out and cultivated friendships in the wellness world sooner. I mean, the whole goal here is to connect with people who are on the same journey as you, right?
Wether you decide to Instagram your journey or not, most importantly, remember that this fitness journey is about YOU. Any steps you take toward building a happier, healthier you are good steps. Getting more followers is not a reflection of your success or failure. Enjoy your journey and celebrate yourself!

Yeah, wish I had taken much more when I first started this journey!
Now is a good place to start though! I have an insta fitness account (I don’t currently use it) but I agree it really helped me when I did the body coach programme and even now I look back and can see how far I have come and it helps me keep focused (not all the time)!!! Michelle x
