When I first embarked on my weight loss and wellness journey, one of the biggest changes (and probably the most impactful) was ditching dairy.
This was a challenge because I’m also allergic to almonds and I’m not a fan of soy. So it kind of narrows down my options considerably. So I’m always curious and excited to try dairy alternatives. Curious, because most of them suck and taste like chalk water, and excited, because every once in a while I stumble upon a gem that I am happy to include in my daily diet of whole, living, vibrant and healthy foods.
I recently had the opportunity to try some of the many dairy free drink offerings from Better Than Milk, a new(ish) dairy alternative that launched last year.
Here is what I like about Better Than Milk (CLICK HERE to check out the website):
- Their alternative milk beverages are Certified Organic.
- None of their alternative milk beverages (including their oat drink!) contain gluten. While I’m not allergic to gluten, it’s another item I try to avoid if possible.
- Better Than Milk beverages are shelf stable and do not need to be refrigerated before use. (Makes online ordering and stocking up a breeze!)
- Better Than Milk plant-based beverages DO NOT CONTAIN any dairy, lactose, gluten, soy, sulfites, artificial flavors, carrageenan or cholesterol!
At the moment, Better Than Milk’s Oat Drink is my new go to for morning protein smoothies or lunch time energy smoothies / snacks. I love the smooth richness of this drink.
Better Than Milk collects spring water from high up in the Lessini Mountains in Italy and carefully combines it with organic gluten free oats to make a silky, creamy, beverage that is perfect for smoothies! And the ingredients are simple, straightforward and CLEAN. Check it out:
Ingredients: Spring Water, Organic Oats, Organic Sunflower Oil, Organic Safflower Oil, Sea Salt.
While I wanted to share a fancy shmancy recipe with you all, the full truth is, I’m pretty dang happy with using a scoop of my go to protein powders blended up with the Better Than Milk Oat Milk.. and that’s it. Literally. It’s that simple, and that yummy.
If you haven’t yet, take a moment to check out this new kid on the block in the dairy alternative world. It looks like it’s going to be sticking around for some time if it’s credentials and taste are any indication.
