Mother’s Day is just around the corner and the older my kids get, the more I’m totally loving this holiday, haha!
In my humble opinion, one of the most priceless presents a mother can receive is when their little ones runs over, beaming with joy, holding out a fist full of dandelions they picked to give mommy a bouquet of flowers. Heart = melted!
Since our backyard is BRIMMING with springtime dandelions (I am fairly certain we have more dandelions than actual grass in the backyard), and before we break out the mower, I thought it would be a fun homeschool and early Mother’s Day project to teach the kiddos how to wrap a mini bouquet of flowers! Ya know.. just in case they might want to acquire that skill. For… reasons.
Anyhoo, I set the kids loose in the backyard and asked them to pick me the prettiest flowers they could find! Rowan, my littlest, took this job particularly seriously. Best. Flower. Picker. EVER.
Flowers obtained, we set to work to make the prettiest Mother’s Day dandelion bundles you’ve ever seen!
What You’ll Need
- Scissors
- Wrapping paper
- Tissue paper
- Clear tape
- String, ribbon or raffia
Instructions
Cut the wrapping paper and tissue paper into equal sized squares. Since I didn’t have any Mothers Day wrapping paper on hand, I just made some quick little designs on Canva and printed them out on plain ol’ printer paper. I think they came out pretty dang cute!
Place the wrapping paper face down on your table and place tissue paper onto the wrapping paper covering the entire back. Turn the sheet diagonally so that a point is on top.
Place the flowers on the tissue paper, and trim the stem bottoms to fit your paper square.
Gently fold the left and right side corners of the outside wrapper and tissue paper diagonally toward the flowers once, till the points are just touching the stems.
Next, fold the sides in once more, wrapping around the stems this time, and secure with clear tape.
Lastly, fold the bottom of the bouquet bundle to the back of the bouquet making a flat bottom, and tape.
Tie a pretty string, ribbon, or raffia around the floral package. Then give your beautifully wrapped dandelions to your mommy and watch her smile with delight! (Seriously THE BEST gift a mommy can receive!)
Such a cute idea!
