Years ago I did the red asian dress version of Mary Jane Watson from the Spiderman movie, but when we were cycling through old cosplays to re-do in June of 2011, I decided to change it us and do the pink tank top / skirt version with Jonathan (then still just my fiance) so we could do the upside down kiss scene in the rain! ^_^
We went all out and had made a fake rain machine to do the kiss scene. We were quite proud of ourselves. We had everything set up, including finding an alley with running water so we could feed the rain through the “rain” pipes. But when the pre-arranged day came for our photoshoot, it REALLY started raining, and saved us the trouble of using the rain tools we’d fabricated! And by raining, I mean RAINING. Full on freak flash flood and downpour in the middle of June! It was so bad that in some pictures, you can’t see our fee because the water was above our ankles!
Towards the end of our photoshoot, some police officers drove down the alleyway and saw us in the middle of staging a photo with Jonathan (as Spiderman) tying up the thugs in his spidey webbing. They looked, paused, then said, “Well, we were going to check things out down here, but it seems that Spiderman is already on the scene!” It was a fun shoot, though we were all shivering by the end of the night!
Big thanks to our friends who played the thugs – Will (check out his other cosplays on his Facebook page Darth Sparrows Cosplays, here), Sean, and Kyle!
These are great! I think this cosplay stuff is super cool! It looks really fun 🙂
When are you going to jump in the cosplay boat Denise?!
