As promised, I’m going to be doing a slow walk through memory lane over the next few weeks, posting galleries of past cosplay photoshoots and projects.
This is our X-Files cosplay from July of 2009. I cosplayed as Dana Scully years, years, YEARS ago, back when the show was still on the air. When I met Jonathan, and we were in the early stages of dating (I don’t think we’d even kissed yet), I insisted that he cosplay as Mulder and play around with photoshoots with me. Not only was the costume easy to throw together (he used an old suit from high school), but it would be comfortable for walking around San Diego Comic Con together.
This was Jonathans first official cosplay! I was a casual cosplayer just getting into the whole on-location photoshoot scene. At the time, we had no idea this simple cosplay would start the avalanche of costumes and projects to follow. I guess you could view this photoshoot as our “gateway drug” into the realm of cosplay after cosplay after cosplay.
For the location, my dad is the coroner at the Kings County Morgue in Hanford, California and he let us use his morgue for the photoshoot. All of the props are legit, from the gloves to the vials to the goggles. They were pretty much things laying around the place that we thought would look sufficiently X-Files-ey.
X-files TERRIFIES me (aliens… *shivers*) but this is incredibly cool 🙂 I especially like the one where you guys are standing in the darkened hallway.
Thanks! And yeah, it scares me too.. haha… When I think of X-Files I think of the only season I’m able to watch without getting nightmare – season 5, when everything was more funny than intense, haha. ^_^
This is great – who would ever think of a morgue for a photo shoot!
Yeah, it was fun!!
