So this is less “photos of the faire” and more “photos of Tessa at the faire”. lol!
Hanford Faire has been my “home faire” for.. well.. my whole life. It was the first Renaissance Faire I had ever been to (at the age of two months old), and I did not miss a single Hanford Faire after that for 26 years. Yeah, you read that right. I went to this Faire 26 consecutive years before missing a Faire a couple of years ago.
My parents ran the game booth Patch and Pixie Pastimes, and so my earliest memories are camping in the pavilion, listening to the sounds of the drum circle, playing chess by a crackling fire and getting into peasanty shenanigans around the ‘shire. (I blame Faire for my infatuation with the smell of leather and hay bales.)
This year we weren’t running the game booth (my parents retired it a few years ago), and having grown up at Faire with my own stomping grounds, it has become a pet peeve of mine to be at a Faire as a guest – or even worse – as a mundane. So while I missed Faire, I didn’t want to go and be a wanderer with no money to spend. But my mom talked me into it – it would be Tessa’s very first Renaissance Faire after all!
We really need to join your friends’ guild. Look at the prices for adults at Kearney, $12 each! Even taking the flier or canned goods only takes a buck off the price. If we could all go in under ‘family’ it would be worth it. Tessa looked so adorable in her little peasant garb. She needs to go to a faire when she’s NOT all nap dopey. heh.
$12 per person?! YIKES. How do they get anyone in this economy?!
Hi Gingi! Thanks so much for visiting my blog today 🙂 I chose to read this post first because I love Renaissance Fairs (we got to attend a couple when we lived in England) and because my daughter is a huge cosplay/comicon girl. We took her and a friend to NYC last year and she had a ball. I guess we’re a geek family too. Talk with you later–
That is so cool!! Oooo, I hope we can keep in touch! I’m adding you to my Blog Lovin’ “follow” list, so I can’t wait to see more of your posts! Talk to you later girl!
