Aloha, everyone! I am beyond excited that in just one month, I will be embarking on an adventure packed vacation to Hawaii. As I prepare for this trip, I am immersing myself in all things Hawaiian – from movies and music to food.
One of my favorite recipes that I’ve tried so far is a delicious Hawaiian Beef Stir Fry PuPu Dish with Lettuce Cups. This recipe is perfect for a light and refreshing appetizer, or it can be served as a main dish with rice on the side.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Ingredients:
– 1 lb. ground beef
– 4 large shiitake mushrooms
– 4 tablespoons sesame oil
– 2 slices of ginger, finely minced
– 4 ounces of bamboo shoots, finely minced
– 2 cloves of garlic, finely minced
– 4 ounces of water chestnuts, finely minced
– 1 stalk of green onion, chopped
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
– 1 tablespoon ponzu sauce
– 1/2 tablespoon sweet and sour sauce
– 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
– 1/2 tablespoon of sugar
– 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
– Chopped parsley to garnish
– 1 head of lettuce leaves for cups
Instructions:
1. Fry the beef until cooked, drain the fat and set aside.
2. Heat the oil in a wok over high heat and stir fry the ginger and mushrooms.
3. When cooked through, add the bamboo shoots, garlic and water chestnuts, cooking for 1 minute.
4. Add the green onions and meat to the wok. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
5. Add the remaining ingredients to make the sauce, cooking another 3 minutes.
6. To serve, garnish with the parsley and spoon the beef stir-fry into lettuce cups.
