As a mom blogger who is just starting out with resistance weight training machines (and I mean JUST starting out.. I have NEVER used weight training machines in my life before now!), I understand how daunting it can be to begin a new fitness journey.
There is something about the machine, they are just so intimidating – especially when you are carrying extra weight (like me) and don’t know what the heck you are doing (again, like me). However, I KNOW that with the right mindset and approach, this can and will be a rewarding and exciting experience.
I’m using the Fitbod app to curate a custom workout routine using the machines that are in already at my free community gym just a short walk from my home, and along with my husband, we are starting a twice a week strength training program.
If you, like me, are on a similar journey, here are five tips to help you get started (that I have been using to get myself up and moving!):
1. Start Small and Build Up: Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither will your fitness routine. Start small and gradually increase the intensity and duration of your workouts. This will help you avoid injury and burnout, and ensure that you stay motivated along the way.
2. Find a Workout Buddy: Working out with a friend or family member can be a great way to stay motivated and accountable. It can also make the experience more enjoyable and fun.
3. Use Free Apps and Resources: There are many free apps and online resources available that can help you plan and track your workouts. This can be a great way to stay organized and motivated, and to ensure that you are progressing towards your fitness goals.
4. Focus on Form: Proper form is essential when using resistance weight training machines. Take the time to learn the correct technique for each exercise, and don’t be afraid to ask for help or advice from gym staff or other experienced users.
5. Celebrate Your Progress: Finally, don’t forget to celebrate your progress along the way. Whether it’s reaching a personal milestone or simply feeling stronger and more energized, take the time to acknowledge your achievements and give yourself a pat on the back.
