Check out these awesome Christmas Folk Art prints by artist Bonnie White! They have all the wholesome warm and fuzzy Christmas feels and conjure up memories and emotions of the most wonderful time of the year and I just HAD TO BUY SOME.
While binging on #HalloweenCountdown2022 TikToks the other day, I stumbled upon a bunch of tweets where artists find old folk art prints at thrift stores and then paint over them to make them spooky and Halloween themed – things like hiding cute ghosts in the windows and jack o lantern pumpkins on the porches.
So while I was thrifting it up with my husband the other day, I found a framed folk art print, and snatched it up quickly to inspect it and see how I could possibly make it spooky. Imagine my surprise when I found it to already be Autumn-tastic. Not Halloween themed, but it was obviously an autumn setting with pumpkin patches and harvest wagons and hay stacks and so on. So I ended up buying it to use as is, and then took to the Google machine to see who the artist was.
The artist of my thrift store print is an artist named Leslie Nelson Stocks, and the print, called “The Pumpkin Harvest” dates from around 1983. I couldn’t find a web presence for Ms. Stocks, and it appears the only prints online are sites like Etsy and eBay with (I assume) more thrift store find prints.
BUT, while doing my quick internet research, while examining a Google image, the drop down “see more like” images revealed a REALLY AWESOME Halloween print by an artist named Bonnie White. This print just struck my fancy and so I Googled a little harder and found – OH MY GOODNESS, Bonnie White has a website and she has A TON MORE Halloween, Christmas, Fall, Summer… EVERY SINGLE SEASON in imaginative, quality, whimsical and emotionally charged folk art prints. *starts button mashing the Buy Now button*
Here is the Christmas print I ended up buying on her website:
In addition to the Christmas print, I also did get a Halloween print from Bonnie White’s website to rotate in the frame I purchased with my Autumn themed Leslie Nelson Stocks print. (I am using the old frame we found. I have just recently discovered the magic of acrylic paint and clear sealant to spruce up used wooden thrift store frames!)
Here is just a small sample of some of Bonnie White’s Christmas and Winter themed prints, and all are available for purchase on her website for VERY reasonable prices. (PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT a sponsored post. This is a product I found organically and purchased at full price. I just wanted to share with my readers because I found these to be of interest and high value!)
It was extremely difficult to pick which prints to order since they are all filled with so much character and charm and life!!! And I suspect I will be heading back to buy some Spring and Summer prints as well. But for now, I have an Autumn, Halloween and Christmas print to rotate seasonally in my upscaled thrift store frame find, and I am soooo happy.
If you’re into Folk Art, Americana or are a holiday / seasonal geek like me, go check out Bonnie White’s work, I am absolutely smitten!
