Mother’s Day is just ONE WEEK away!! So here in the Freeman household, we spent the morning making yarn tassel dandelion flowers for all of the moms in our life!
These easy DIY dandelions made out of yarn tassels with a pipe cleaner stem are the perfect craft for Mother’s Day, AND they are small enough to send in the mail to moms and grandmothers who deserve all the love this coming weekend! (If my mom and mother in law read this blog, uhhhh, spoilers on your Mother’s Day gifts. haha!)
Anyhoo, these pretty yellow and green tassel flowers are the perfect gift for Mother’s Day, and are suuuuuper easy and inexpensive to make, since they are made from cheap, synthetic yarn and pipe cleaners.
If you would like to make these beauties, here’s how! (Also, if you are lucky enough to have fresh dandelions for picking, consider making these fresh Mother’s Day dandelion bouquet wraps!)
You Will Need:
- Yellow yarn
- Green yarn
- Green pipe cleaners
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors
- Fork
Directions:
- Place a pipe cleaner along one side of your fork.
- Wrap the fork and pipe cleaner with yellow yarn.
- Wrap the yarn 30 times around the fork.
- Twist the pipe cleaner together around the end of the yarn.
- Tie green yarn around the base of the flower (between the last tine of the fork). Remove the tassel from the fork.
- Hot glue green yarn and wrap it around the flower stem, wrapping the yarn close together so no yellow yarn shows.
- Cut the loops of the yellow yarn with scissors.
- Use a fork or metal tool to fray the yarn slightly.
- Fluff the top of your flower and trim any stray threads.
That’s a cute DIY for Mother’s Day! The dandelions turned out beautiful!
