If you have been reading my blog in the past few weeks, then you know that I have been ringing in the New Year with a healthy home!
While I already make a point of pursuing natural and healthy products in my home, my quest for greener cleaning solutions has been renewed. I have recently switched to all Norwex microfiber cleaning cloths in my household, and these heavy duty cleaning machines have microfibers so tiny (1/200th the diameter of a human hair!), that the cloths can stop working if they are washed with harsh or chemically laden ingredients that clog up the fabric. I learned that even some “natural” cleaners can be filled with product that clogs and coats fibers of fabric.
I got curious about what individual chemicals do to fabric threads in the course of washing, and which companies I can trust to clean my microfiber without destroying them.. and that began a spiral of research that eventually led me to the Environmental Working Group website. On the EWG website they list cleaning products ingredients and place them on a sliding scale of “Healthy” to “Ya’ll Gonna Get Cancer”. (Okay, so I am paraphrasing.) This, in turn, led me to the company Sun & Earth.
What I saw on the Sun & Earth website really impressed me! (CLICK HERE to visit the website and become uber impressed yourself!) I reached out to get in touch and learn more about the company, and to try their laundry products in particular on my delicate cleaning cloths and natural fiber delicate clothing (especially my socks.. but more on THAT later!) The company was crazy helpful in getting in touch and providing helpful information. They even let me try a sample of their various products! Check it out!
More About Sun & Earth Cleaning Products
From the Sun & Earth website (CLICK HERE to visit!):
In 1988, Sun & Earth began its quest for a better way to clean. We wanted to rid toxic chemicals with harsh smells and mysterious names from our living rooms, kitchens and baths! We set out to prove that cleaning products made from harmless ingredients could perform as well as the leading brand.
Most major household cleaning brands use abrasive chemical compounds in their products to remove dirt and residue, mask odors, and remove stains. Many of these compounds are known to be toxic to humans and animals, and can leave behind dangerous odors and residues. Sun & Earth’s products are created with living things in mind. We use essential oils and plant-derived cleaning agents that are effective at cleaning but harmless to people and pets. We design all of our products with your loved ones’ health in mind.
We’re committed to sustainable practices. All of our products are made with plant-derived ingredients that are natural and non-toxic. They contain no petroleum- based ingredients, bleach, chlorine, ammonia, dyes, phosphates or perfumes.
Sun & Earth is fully committed to ethically and environmentally responsible practices. The first company in the state to purchase 100% wind power, our factory saves around 76,000 sq. feet of cardboard every month by recycling our own packaging materials. We never test on animals, and use only biodegradable, plant derived ingredients. We believe in making sustainable choices to safeguard the planet and future generations.
My Thoughts on Sun & Earth Products
First off, I already knew that on an intellectual level, I was very much THRILLED with the Sun & Earth company (hence why *I* reached out to *them* in the first place!) I really appreciate their use of superior, natural and safe products. I love the company values and earth friendly business practices. And I am straight up smitten with their customer service!
But how do the products hold up in actual use? I am so glad you asked!
So far… FANTASTIC! They are safe and effective to use on my microfiber, without clogging up the fibers with chlorine, fillers or other yuckiness. And they are very effective at their respective purposes.
I plan to go into more detail on Sun & Earth’s fabric softener when I launch into my “Sock Boot Camp” challenge in January (stay tuned!), but I can tell you right now.. I am LOVING the fabric softener and the dish soap the best so far! (And I am VERY excited about the travel pack they have available.. no need to ditch the green while traveling!)
I especially love the lavender scented products.. it straight up smells like essential oil. Like, the kind of undiluted, pure essential oil smell you would expect right out of the aromatherapy bottle! A dose of aromatherapy with the dishes? YES PLEASE!!
I especially love that I can let my kids take part in household chores, knowing that they are safe from the toxic, harsh chemicals found in most “wear with gloves and goggles” products found in most American kitchens and laundry rooms.
As you can see from these photos, my kiddos had a BLAST trying out the dishwashing soap while cleaning their lunch plates. We usually use Mrs. Meyers in our home, and while it seems that both the products perform on par, the SCENT of Sun & Earth is FAR superior in my opinion. I think our household has found a new favorite!
Green cleaners are amazing, I have used them for years now and are very happy with it. We don’t have sun&earth here in the UK – I am using Ecover which has a nice selection of green products as well.

I have actually used that brand before! I wasn’t overly fond of their dishwasher detergent, since they left soapy spots on my dishes… they are the reasons why I had initially switched to Mrs. Meyers! lol!

Most of the products in my home are all natural, including the cleaning supplies. I’ve been using Seventh Generation and The Honest Company, so now I need to check out this brand! Thanks for sharing, beautiful, and I hope you’re having a great week so far!

I’m actually switching to a greener cleaning products now. But not completely yet, baby steps, I do it slowly since they’re hard to find in my country.

I find that you kind of have to go green with baby steps, otherwise it is just overwhelming!

I love learning about greener products- soooo much better for you + the environment!

Same here, I geek out over the strangest things these days, lol!
Lol, it’s a good thing you have natural products to help clean up after the little ones while they are “cleaning”. Those pics were so adorable. My sister uses Sun Earth products and likes them but I haven’t tried them. I may try the dishwashing liquid first and see how that goes.

Hahaha, right?! I love teaching the kids to clean, but that clean up after their cleaning can get demoralizing at times.. haha
;D
Ainda não conhecia essa marca!
Ótima quarta!
Beijo! ^^

I do use some green products. I even do a lot of my cleaning with vinegar and baking soda. Never heard of this brand though. I’ll have to check into it for sure.
I like cleaning with natural products.. I used to go with just vinegar and baking soda, but with safer brands making the scene, it makes it convenient for cleaning in a hurry!
;D
Ótima quinta!

Awww, thanks! I LOVE the pictures on your blog, so that means something! hehe
Interesting product concept. I’m glad more and more brands are trying to incorporate the environment.
Me too!
I’ve never used Green Products before, but I’m a sucker for any cleaner that makes my house smell good! That lavender sounds pretty amazing, and I like that it’s safe to use. Kudos to you for getting some neat things to sample, and that they worked out well. Happy Saturday! Hugs…RO
These smell the absolute best of all the green cleaners I have tried so far, for sure! <3
Oh these sound excellent, I too want to get away from all non organic cleaning products. Only thing is just can not use citrus based detergents on my clothing I get a reaction but other then that all is good. And love the photos of the kiddos! Too cute!
