I have decided that 2018 is going to be the year of adulting.
And not just, “hey look, I paid my bills” adulting. I am talking, getting out pen and paper, making a game plan, and perfecting and honing the daily grind of responsibilities until it is an art form.
I do this every year around late November through December. It’s like a snake shedding its skin, or a hen molting for the season. I am shaking off all those excess feathers and scales and getting ready for the new and improved and highly motivated me. (Wow, that metaphor just took off into a really weird place.)
Anyhoo, I am trying to critically assess my daily workflow around the house and find ways that I can organize, improve and streamline my chores while being a mommy to three, a wedding photographer and maybe even a mom blogger! (Hey there! *wink wink*).
So now most of my evenings are spent researching how to PROPERLY take care of the things I already own (like my car, my clothes and my electronics.. I am actually reading owners manuals like they are mini novels, haha!)
All of that is to say, when I decided that I was going to actually start washing clothes according to their care instruction tags, I realized my single hamper and “throw everything into the machine” routine is NOT going to cut it. I needed an area to sort and hang my laundry and I needed it YESTERDAY!
I recently reviewed sock organizer inserts and vacuum storage packs from Songmics (CLICK HERE to read those) and I really enjoyed their quality – and the way their products transformed my sock and underwear drawer! – so I was very excited to try this Rolling Laundry Sorter by Songmics.
Basically, if you don’t have one yet, YOU NEED A LAUNDRY SORTER IN YOUR LIFE. Holy crickey, it makes life so much easier while doing laundry!
First and foremost, it serves as some legit overflow for hampers around the house. No more overflowing hampers in my bathroom or bedroom, and no more dirty clothes smell in the house. *does a little jig*
But I also love how this thing looks! My “laundry room” is actually my garage. It’s not great, but it’s not terrible either. It’s cold in the winter, poorly lit, and the “laundry room” section is not really laid out as a work area, there’s just a washer and dryer shoved in the corner. So as much as I want to adult like a boss and get on top of this whole “doing laundry properly” thing, it’s been a little hard to get excited.
But this laundry sorter is rather exciting, in an odd housewifey kind of way! It’s easy to assemble and fairly large, so it serves as a kind of natural room divider, allowing me to section off a working area. It’s also fairly durable and sturdy. The hamper material is thick and strong and the handles are great, I can shove heavy bedding into one of the units and not have to worry about it slipping or bending or tearing.
The hanging rack is also tall enough to hang large items, like comforters. (This has already happened once or twice… yay toddlers that pee the bed!) The only things I did “differently” – I didn’t add the rolling wheels, because my toddlers would most likely try to ride the thing around the neighborhood. I also didn’t add the bottom netting to catch clothes because I didn’t want my cats turning it into a hammock. (Isn’t my life fun?!)
I have been using this sorter daily since Black Friday (yes, I spent Black Friday doing laundry instead of shopping… don’t judge me!!!!!), and I am SO SO SO happy this improvement happened BEFORE the New Year! If you are interested in picking up a laundry sorter, check out Songmics Rolling Laundry Sorter available on Amazon by CLICKING HERE.
Between my laundry sorter and my Norwex, I am feeling FANTASTIC going into 2018 with my life pre-organized and optimized for the new adventures that await!! <3
This would be SO handy in the basement (where my washer + dryer are) for sorting!

It is crazy helpful! I am super happy with it.
I’m pretty organized since it just me at home but it’s always good to know new tips for organization thanks
I think that is where my problem is.. I am in a house with two toddlers, a baby, and a messy husband! lol!
Yes, I definitely need a laundry sorter in my life! I hate it when all the clothes mix. I like to separate whites from colored and also my undies and sucks because those little stuff are the hardest to find in a pile 😀

I have recently started washing my undies and socks in a washing net in their own load… SO MUCH nicer, and actually possible to do with the sorter, haha..
Oh a laundry sorter this sounds excellent! I could so use one of these in my life. This would make doing laundry so much easier. Hahaha I wonder if my cats would use it has a hammock too.

What’s funny is, after posting this, one of my cats decided to use the actual hamper bags as a hammock! haha.. I cannot win! 😉
I love doing laundry! Really! I have 3 matching baskets and then sort from there. I do a load whenever one is ready to go. It’s like therapy for me!
;-}
I noticed that if I feel organized or like I am on top of the process, I really enjoy housework..
I sure wish I had this when my son was a kid over 34 years ago! He was heavily involved in sports, and felt like I lived in the laundry room. It looks like a great idea, and I love the streamlined look of it. With 3 kids and a hubby and all the other stuff you do, everything sure looks organized and neat! Hugs…RO
Hahaha, don’t let the photos fool you… I tidy up before blogging shots! 😉
Oh my gosh, I need a laundry sorter in my life! I use baskets but they just aren’t working to keep me organized. I’m full on board with making 2018 the year of adulting! By adulting I mean getting and staying organized and of course, paying my bills!
Paying the bills.. now THAT is a different struggle all on it’s own!! haha
it’s perfect for laundry, great article
have an happy day
kisses
<3 Thanks dear!
I like this one’s bottom compartments a lot. At present we have 4 different types in our bedroom.
FOUR?!?! Dang girl! lol
erm i kind of throw my dirty clothes in a corner of my room, and then sort it and put it in the hamper when i do laundry. whoops. i probably need a laundry sorter in my life (;
Yesssssss! It makes it sooo much easier!
Very practical solution 🙂
I know, right?!
That would be perfect for me! Need to have it!

If you do try it, lemme know what you think!
You’ve convinced me – I definitely need one!!
Have a lovely day 🙂

Go get one! DOOOOO IT!!! 😉
Looks brilliant…but I live alone so I have to 2 baskets: hand wash (delicate or pale) and machine lol. Cool it doubles as a natural room divider!
Yeah, I didn’t expect to use it that way, and now it’s one of the best features to me, haha!
😉
Parece ser um bom organizador!
Ótima quarta!
Beijo! ^^
<3 <3
That looks like a pretty useful organizer, as long as your cats don’t take it over.
It has already begun… 😉
Laundry sorters are a must have. I have one in every closet and in the laundry room.

Really?! That seemed excessive to me at first, then I started actually thinking about it.. haha.. Not a bad idea!
I wish I had the room for a sorter, but for now I have to settle for a single basket… that is also in my way a lot xD
Oh noes!! Are you in an apartment? Or just a REALLY crowded house? lol
I live in a teeeeeny-tiny apartment.
We use a hamper with compartments to sort our laundry. It makes life so mcuh easier come laundry time.
I am NEVER going back!
Great review and great product, it would make sorting our laundry so much easier. Thanks!
No prob! Thanks for stopping by!
this is such a great product. I always sort out my clothings before doing the laundry. Having a laundry sorter will save so much time
The Glossychic
That is one side effect of organizing I didn’t expect.. the time saving effect!
i don’t currently need a laundry sorter because i shamefully throw everything together in the wash…perhaps the sorter would inspire me to wash clothes as they’re meant to be washed… 🙂
Yup, it’s the only way I could get started, lol…
This sounds – and looks – awesome! My family could really use this as we kind of just have random baskets everywhere. LOL
-Lauren
That’s what we used to do too, haha!
Oh what a nifty organizer! There’s only the 3 of us in my household so to cut back on water usage I just toss it all in and hope for the best lol. I’m organized elsewhere though!
I am still not great at completely sorting, but it is nice to have the clothes that need to be sanitized (baby pee anyone?) set aside, haha!
This laundry sorter looks as though it’d make washing (and life! haha) muuuuch more simple and organised. Have a great week ahead!!

It DOES!!! You should get one, lol!
We currently do it the lazy way – whatever is dirty goes straight to the washing machine, and when it is full, it is put on. Haha! Not very adult!
-Kati
LOL, thats one way to do it!! 😉
We live in a 650 sq. ft. 1 bdrm apartment with very little room. So as soon as the laundry basket is full we do the laundry because we have no room for big piles of laundry or a laundry sorter. Even our basket is small.
