As a homeschooling mom of three, I am always on the lookout for fun and easy crafts to do with my little ones. One of our favorite materials to work with is tissue paper! Not only is it affordable and easy to find, but it’s also incredibly versatile and can be used for a wide variety of crafts.
In this post, I’ll share some of our favorite tissue paper crafts that are perfect for toddlers and preschoolers, as well as older kids.
Working with tissue paper is a great way to develop fine motor skills in little ones. Tearing and crumpling tissue paper helps to strengthen the muscles in their hands and fingers, which is important for later skills like writing. Plus, tissue paper is safe for kids who aren’t quite ready for scissors yet, as it’s easy to tear with their hands.
Here are eight easy tissue paper crafts to try with your little ones:
1. Tissue Paper Flowers – Cut out flower shapes from construction paper and have your child glue on pieces of tissue paper to create a colorful bouquet. Check out a fun tutorial here at Kids Activity Zone!
2. Tissue Paper Collage – Provide a large piece of construction paper and a variety of colored tissue paper. Let your child tear and glue the tissue paper onto the paper to create a unique collage. Check out a fun tutorial here at Creative Jewish Mom.
3. Tissue Paper Sun Catchers – Cut out a large shape (like a butterfly or flower) from contact paper and have your child stick pieces of tissue paper onto the sticky side. Once finished, hang the sun catcher in a window to catch the light. Check out this fun tutorial at First Palette!
