I decided to review this book through Moody Publishers because one area I struggle with in my faith is in the area of every day missions. I fully believe that your every day life, your every word uttered on every platform you pursue is your “mission field”.
While I have no problem sharing my faith (as anyone who knows me can attest!) I don’t live a very INTENTIONAL life when it comes to reaching my every day mission field. As a gal with VERY diverse interests, I find that a large bulk, if not the majority of my friends, have drastically differing beliefs from mine. While I’m not out on some dastardly undertaking to convert my friend, I DO wonder and worry if I am doing everything that I can to be the best model of Christ to them.
So I figured this book would be an enlightening and edifying read!
About the Book
Book description from Amazon.com:
Surprise – whoever you are, you’re a missionary!
If you call yourself a follower of Jesus, God calls you his missionary. You may never go halfway around the world. You may not raise financial support. But because of God’s gospel work in you, you are on mission: to people in your work, school, neighborhood, and those in need. As everyday missionaries, God has sent us to live out his Great Commission in the ordinary, normal, all-too-busy, and even most mundane moments of our lives.
- But what exactly does an everyday missionary do?
- Where and when does this everyday mission happen?
-
Most importantly, how can you possibly share the gospel, without killing your relationships?!
Hi Gingi! Thank you for this review, it sounds like a great devotional. I’m so impressed that you and your husband are doing it together, that’s so awesome!
My pastor talked about being a light and a message to others everyday, and how we are all called to do that. It sounds like this book is a direct answer to his talk, including ideas on how to be an everyday missionary. Good read!
Hope you had a great weekend,
Ceil
My husband and I generally like to read through apologetics books together.. we’re big on research and history and such.. so it’s nice to focus on a devotional that is in a different area than we’re used to focusing! <3 You have a great weekend too dear!!
I love the bit about “incessantly nagging for a sample.” 🙂 This sounds like a great book that I should read. I so agree with what you are saying here about being intentionally mission minded. Amen, sister!
Hahaha.. it’s true!! I rarely accept offers to review product.. I usually just beg for something I have a sincere interest in.. 😉
I think this sounds like a worthy read Gingi… I believe we are meant to be missionaries by living our life the best way we can… ideas to help us can only be uplifting xox
THis book is so inspiring.
Thanks for sharing

I am not religious myself, but it sounds like an interesting book.
It really is!! <3 <3
Ok, I’m interested. I like the idea of reading it as a daily devotional so I have something fresh on my mind each day. Maybe I’ll make this a birthday suggestion if anyone asks:)
How cool that you and your husband are reading this through together, Gingi. It sure says something about the book, and about your relationship, too.
Thanks for the review, friend … and have a super week!
Yeah.. I always say the couple that prays and cosplays together, stay together, haha! 😉
I like the sound of this book! I was listening to a talk the other day and the speaker was saying that everyday we can be missionaries to help those around us. She did say though that sometimes the most important missions are found within the walls of our own home. I also liked that, sometimes I am so busy being a mother I wish there was more I could do outside of that to help. I guess I just need to be patient and wait for the right season 🙂
Yes, this book goes over that too! It starts with our homes, families, then communities and onward!
I always appreciate people who are searching for answers rather than just following a dogma and keeping to it blindly. Great review!

What an interesting idea and book.
This is certainly something I could work on as well.
Yeah, I’d recommend it! <3
How wonderful that you and your husband share this together. It sounds like the book has some wonderful qualities!
Gingi – you certainly cover all aspects of life and subjects on your blog.
Have a good week and take care
All the best Jan
LOL, I try to stay focused and themed, but.. yeah. I just kind of go all over the place. 😉
Very cool when you talk about your faith.
And the book sounds eye-opening too.
I’m Jewish by birth, undecided by adulthood, and my kids are both Jewish and Christian, so I’m so confused. I wish I had a firm faith, but I like to read about others.
LOL, if you ever want to learn more about Christianity, I HIGHLY recommend The Case for Christ, or The New Evidence That Demands a Verdict.. GREAT books that summarize why and what Christians believe! <3
this book sounds very good
I wish you an happy start of week darling

Thanks so much Gingi for another great book review. Same as you, I have many friends with very different beliefs that mine, totally opposite, and I just try to let my light shine and be the best example I can. But I’m not perfect obviously and love them to death regardless, but hope they can see that I’m not a hypocrite, I’m just not perfect. But I often find too that people with very different beliefs than mine are more open to hearing about Jesus, so that’s cool too =)
Yeah, I know what you mean. I always try to stress that people are imperfect.. there are NO perfect people (well, there was this one guy once..) but we serve a perfect God. Okay, so this comment was much cooler in my head. It’s too early, I need coffee, lol! 😉
this book sounds very interesting. good post. ciao gloria

I love the idea of helping people in your life as part of being a missionary- there are different paths for everyone. 🙂

Like you, I never let politics, religion, or being vegan interfere with my friendships. This book is something that I need in my life right now. I’ve been questioning my stewardship lately and if I’ve been doing enough. Thanks for the great review Gingi.
Anytime my friend! <3
I must admit that I have never read a book like this, but it sounds very interesting and I would love to give it a go 🙂 it’s lovely that you and your husband read it together x

This sounds like such a fantastic read since it can really motivate and even challenge you! As a Christian, encouraging others instead of judging or holding a condemning attitude is so important and glad that this is what the book advocates! Thanks for sharing!

This sounds like an interesting book 🙂 Personally, I do not believe in convincing others to believe in what we do, but it’s an interesting point of view.

It’s less convincing others to follow your beliefs, and more sharing what you believe and why you believe it. 😉
I’m not sure if my comment went through as I can’t see it! 🙁 As I was mentioning previously, you’re really really convincing me to start reading this genre 🙂
