I should probably preface this blog post by stating that at the moment I do not fully follow Ayurvedic health practices, but I have been hearing far too much about this one Ayurvedic health hack to NOT give it a try…
According to Ayurveda – an ancient science of health – healthy digestion is a cornerstone of good health, and efficient digestion nourishes the body and provides energy. The ancient health practice is chock full of time-proven hacks on boosting and improving digestive health and re-invigorating internal organs responsible for detoxification mechanisms.
Perhaps the most popular hack for digestive health is the good ol’ “Lemon in Water First Thing in the Morning” tip. Lemon is one of the richest sources of Vitamin C on the planet and it also contains nutrients like Vitamin B, riboflavin, phosphorus, magnesium, and calcium. TONS of health and beauty bloggers insist that this has been a game changer for their tummy, their energy, and their skin.
The claim among health gurus and bloggers is that if you add some lemon juice (from an actual lemon, not from a plastic container!) and drink it on an empty stomach first thing in the morning, you will reap these benefits:
- Eliminate waste in your system and detoxify your liver
- Improved stomach health – cures for nausea, heartburn and indigestion
- Reduces high blood pressure
- Reduces and/or eliminates stress and depression
- You’ll benefit from lemons anti-aging properties and enjoy clear, acne-free, healthy skin
- Heart health boosted from the heart friendly potassium in lemons
Since I am already in the habit of drinking a glass of water first thing upon waking, I figured squeezing a splash on lemon juice in my glass won’t be too terribly hard to incorporate into my daily routine. So I’m giving it a shot in my weight loss journey! I will be sure to follow up on the results I’ve noticed in the next few weeks!
