Black Cancer Bath Bombs – An X-Files Inspired DIY
Turn bath time into an X-Files inspired adventure with these Black Cancer Bath Bombs
When I found out I would be a guest blogger on Domestic Geek Girl I was excited and a little nervous. What in the world would I write about? As I started brainstorming there was only one appropriate topic that came to mind.
The X- Files (of course)
I grew up watching The X-files religiously, now that it’s on Netflix I’m feeding my addiction to this unexplainable, unapologetic, conspiracy theory-driven masterpiece. Watching when I was a teenager compared to watching now, is like being reunited with a long lost love.
Today’s X-files inspired DIY is based on BLACK CANCER from season 4. Black Cancer was a eerie black substance that morphs into a life-form in the shape of black worms, entering through the eyes, nose, and mouth. It gives me the heebie-jeebies in the best way.
Black Cancer Bath Bombs
Cost: $20
Time: 20 minutes + 1 hour drying time
Skill Level: Beginner/Intermediate
Materials:
1/4 cup Citrus Acid – I used Cream of Tartar
1/4 cup Cornstarch
1/4 cup Epson salt
3 tsp Coconut oil
1 tsp Vitamin E oil
1 tsp Rose-Hip oil
10 drops Black Food Coloring
1 tsp water
spray bottle
Step 1
Combine all wet ingredients together
water, coconut oil, vitamin E oil, Rose hip oil, food coloring
Pour into spray bottle
Step 2
In separate bowl combine dry ingredients
Baking soda, cream of tartar, cornstarch, Epsom salt
Step 3
Slowly add wet ingredients with spray bottle and mix well
Keep adding liquid until mixture is the texture of damp sand, not too wet and not too dry, enough moisture to clump and hold together *I didn’t use all of my liquid mixture
Mix with hands if necessary
Step 4
Pack molds of your choice
I’m using a silicone heart mold
I’ve also used muffin tins and cookie cutters
Step 5
Put in fridge and allow 1 hour to set
Step 6
Run a bath
Drop them in your water
Enjoy!
Admiring my Black Cancer infected bath produced an mysterious exciting sensation. As soon as I plopped down, darkness overtook me and I fell deep into an abyss, that allowed me to unwind and relax while making waves in the murky water. When I was done with the blackness, it drained away leaving no traces of itself in my bath tub or on my towels. I was refreshed, relaxed, calm and thoroughly moisturized.

Oh this is a really cool idea! Thanks so much for sharing.
RIGHT?! I love how the inky blackness spreads over the tub!!
A great way to relax and unwind, as well as a great tribute to the X Files.
Does the food colouring not stain the bath?
She says it left no residue or stain on the bath tub OR the towels…
AHHH this is so cool haha!
This is a great idea for someone that is into the X-Files although for me I usually go for something a little more girly 🙂 x

Hi, Gingi! You don’t even have to implore, because I “know” Mary and she is definitely really sweet and cool, such a nice girl and soul! And you are the same! I loved the Black cancer bath bombs – I told you once that I know the X-Files, but I never could watch it because I feel scared 🙂 But I really like the inspiration behind drinks and bath bombs! Creativity is so good! Hope you have a nice day, Gingi – and Mary!
