OMG you guys, it has been quite the February in the Freeman family / home! Covid finally sunk it’s claws into our little clan, and it’s been a rotation of each family member taking turns being sick, getting better, then getting sick AGAIN and AGAIN. (It’s been wild, ya’ll!) So it if you were wondering why I just kind of dropped off the face of the internet… well, now you know, haha!
We are doing well now (well, better anyway) and while I have a mountain of “things I wanted to blog about” piling up, it seems fitting that I should break back into blogging by discussing a very health and wellness focused tool I’ve recently begun incorporating into my day to day wellness arsenal.
I recently had the opportunity to check out this new book, Body Astrology, which really is a one of a kind, can’t find another book quite like it (though I’m sure there will be many more to follow). This book is a MUST CHECK OUT for anyone who lights up at the thought of letting the planets be your guide to reestablish trust in your own body and inner wisdom.
The premise of the book is that your astrological makeup is like a window into how your unique body works. Because astrology, life, and the body are constantly changing, Body Astrology goes beyond the basics, teaching you how to interpret your birth chart and craft a whole-body daily and seasonal practice to match.
More about Body Astrology from it’s Amazon description (CLICK HERE to view or purchase):
“Recognizing cosmic patterns can help reconnect you with your authentic preferences so you can create a unique daily routine that is tailored to your needs. Nutritionist, certified strength and conditioning specialist, and astrologer Claire Gallagher guides you in the healing powers of each planet and how to use food, movement, and lifestyle to realign and empower. Her integrative and intuitive full-body approach puts the wellness industry on mute so you can have confidence in your own self-directed health choices. You will learn how to:
• Interpret the pivotal pieces of your chart—the Sun, Moon, and rising signs—and how they influence vour daily routine
• Understand the dynamics between the elements, signs, and planets and use healing tools to rebalance, restore, or raise vou out of a celestial rut
• Explore how movement and food needs change throughout the month with lunar cycles and throughout the year (and beyond!) with solar and other planetary cycles
This book it extremely well-written and beautifully illustrated. Claire helps make sense of the complex associations between planets and foods and provides advice for eating and exercise for each season. As someone who already tries to eat according to the seasons, finding mind and body advice that corresponds to the astrological signs just made sense in the most profoundly unexpected way.
If you try to read through it in one sitting (like I initially did, haha) it’s like trying to drink from a fire hose.. a LOT of information to take in all at once. When I set aside some time to really soak it in, I found that the information is easily digested and practical. You WILL want to approach this book with a highlighter and a notebook on hand! Lots of notes to take here, and a lot of this information feels like a revelation.
The timing of this book was a little slice of magic in and of itself as I am on a personal journey of understanding the ebbs and flows of energy in my body and my environment – from menstrual cycles and sleep cycles to lunar cycles and the seasons. Having these tools which tie in the celestial cycles and ancient wisdom with intuitive eating and movement is just such a lightbulb experience for me. SO many revelations reading this!
Overall, this astro nutrition and fitness guide really is a comprehensive and unique approach to medical astrology. Claire focuses on holistic modalities rooted in prevention and empowerment and I look forward to referencing it throughout the year and drawing on it as a source of inspiration and guidance in my pursuit of health for my body, mind, and spirit.
