Earthworm Pet Stain & Odor Eliminator Product Review

As a mom of three kids under 5, I am VERY familiar with odor eating products.

With cats that keep needing rescued (they FIND us, I swear.. the last one was an abandoned kitten under our house!) and my dog having puppies four weeks ago, and the kids – oh, the kids! – and you can see how odor eliminating sprays are literally daily essentials in the Freeman house!

When I was contacted by Earthworm to give their products a go, I was totally on board.. not just because I could use the product (and how!), but I am crazy picky about my odor eater products. I require that they be 100% safe and natural, and I prefer that they are enzyme heavy so that they, ya know, actually work.

I have recently discovered Norwex brand enzyme odor eater, and that, to me, is pretty much the holy grail of natural and effective odor eaters, so Earthworm had a LOT to live up to! Ready for my honest opinion after weeks of rigorous testing? Here we gooooo!!!!

My Thoughts Earthworm Pet Stain & Odor Eliminator

First off, before every using this product, I knew that I was happy with the ingredients. Earthworm Pet Stain and Odor Eliminator is:

• Fragrance and dye free
• Contains natural enzymes
• Contains no harsh chemicals

The natural and safe enzymes use a naturally-occurring process to break down organic materials. It penetrates upholstery fabric, carpet fibers, bedding and other porous materials to break down the source of the odor (in my case, cat, puppy and toddler poop, pee and vomit.. parenting is fun!)

The fact that it is safe for kids is especially essential for our family because my oldest, little 4 year old Tessa, has recently decided that she is ready to own her very own puppy. We were planning on selling all of our golden retriever puppies, but told Tessa that if she cleans up after her puppy and feeds it, she can keep one. To “earn” her puppy, she actually HAS been cleaning up after it!

When she brings her puppy Sky inside to play, whenever Sky piddles on the tile floor, Tessa grabs the Earthworm spray and paper towels, and cleans the pee and sprays the surface… all on her own, and without being asked! Seriously so proud of this little woman!

The spray can be used on semi-porous or non-porous surfaces, such as ceramic tile, vinyl or wood flooring, as well as litter boxes and other pet areas. As pet feces, urine or vomit are broken down by the bioenzymatic process, a truly clean, odor-free area is the result. But… does it work?

The answer is a resounding YES!!! Yes it does!

I mentioned earlier that I am partial to Norwex brand Odor Eliminator, so here is a bit of a side by side comparison:

Both products cost the same in the long run IF you are already purchasing Norwex products. If you are not in the habit of placing Norwex orders or do not have a consultant discount, then Earthworm is actually slightly cheaper to purchase. Earthworm is more transparent with their ingredients, which are listed on the bottle, while Norwex makes you send a written request for ingredients. While Norwex products are all natural and enzyme based, I don’t like the secrecy.. I am ALL about transparency when you make ‘natural’ and ‘safe’ claims! And lastly, I like that Norwex odor spray comes in super concentrated form for you to add water yourself, since sometimes I am dealing with intense messes, and other times I just want to freshen up areas that aren’t necessarily dirty (like weekly spritzing of the kids car seats), and having multiple strength bottles is quite handy. However, if you are just using the spray strictly for pet and kid messes as they arise, there is nothing wrong with the pre-mixed Earthworm spray bottles. If they came out with a super concentrated formula, I’d have to say Earthworm is overall a better purchase all around than Norwex… but with my Norwex discount, it comes down to an honest toss up for me on which product is “best”… they are both amazing!

Where Earthworm wins overwhelmingly is their variety of products that Norwex doesn’t offer.. like the drain cleaner, floor cleaner, and so on.
