One reason we cherish spa time is the ambiance – we love taking in the stress-melting scents and soothing lighting, while someone takes the time to focus completely on enhancing our natural beauty and boosting our well-being.
Too often we focus on the process (getting muh hair did), and not the journey (relaxing into the space). When visiting a spa, just walking in the door we feel that our “session” has already begun, because the atmosphere just transports you into a healing and soothing vibe. The atmosphere is literally half of the equation, and just as vital as the actual “procedure” or beauty work.
I have been making it a point to enhance every step of my journey toward weight loss and beauty and well-being, and so before I start any at-home facial or mani-pedi, I am taking the time to gather my favorite candles, put on a playlist I love and generally set the stage and boost my mood. I am changing the energy of the room before I start the process of “changing” my physical self with masks, facials or whatever.
Since the bathroom plays such a vital role in self-care, I have decided to put some extra energy into making this a wholesome and healing space. It’s not just for special moments like pampering sessions. For everyday use – brushing your teeth, removing your makeup, checking up on a pesky zit – little things go a long way toward whole body, mind and soul healing. Using an essential oil diffuser, mixing scents, changing up the lighting… all these touches in changing the general bathroom ambience will help enhance your experience and put you in the right frame of mind for reaching your physical and mental goals.
Some elements to bring into your bathroom to enhance the ambiance and raise the vibration of your space:
Live plants
Inspirational quotes and images
Candles
Aromatherapy elements (essential oils, diffusers, candles, etc.)
Items from nature – crystals, rocks, stones, shells, wood
Incense and herbs
Art or carvings
Bells or chimes
Music
Comfort and pampering elements (robe, plush towels, luxury soaps and lotions, etc.)
While my bathroom already has most of these elements down, I decided to invest a little extra love into my space today. To increase the vibration of my bathroom space and elevate the ambiance, I have purchased some cute little Tibetan hanging symbols to chime for some sound therapy / energy clearing. I also placed some visualization affirmations inside the medicine cabinet mirror, and have added some earthy crystal and palo santo elements to my bathroom shelf.
I’m going to make a point of systematically going through my home and clearing out the energy of each space with elements that enhance the frame of mind I would prefer to be in. It a journey for sure.. and I’m absolutely loving it.
