I live in smack dab in the center of California, which means that spring comes.. uhhh.. last week?
Seriously though, it is already warming up here in this warm little Valley of ours. We never get snow, and we only get a few weeks of frost. Those frost days are already long past, and we are in the process of getting our lawns and gardens and yards ready for spring.
I have a couple of new nifty garden tools to share with you lovely folks, but the first indispensable piece of garden equipment to unroll for spring, is a good ol’ garden hose! With California’s winter rains already on the distant horizon, my garlic and leek plants are going to be getting mighty thirsty if they are going to survive till summer harvest!
Check out these nifty Gilmour brand garden hose and garden hose accessories which are admirably rising to the occasion!
Flexogen® Super Duty Hose
Description from the Gilmour website (CLICK HERE to visit!):
As flexible as it is durable, Flexogen® delivers superior all‑around performance for your lawn, garden, deck and driveway. Count on a Flexogen® garden hose to curve without kinking, connect without leaking and hold up season upon season.
Tested and proved to be the strongest and longest lasting garden hose in its class, guaranteed, with a patented 8-layer construction that maximizes both durability and flexibility for maximum performance, this hose is crush-resistant, corrosion-resistant and features heavy-duty Full-Flo® brass couplings. The O-rings inside couplings provide a durable tight seal.
The hose also feature eight layers, and for good reason! Check it out, layer by layer:
- Polished Outer Cover
Withstands abrasions, protects against UV, weather and temperature damage.
2. Patented Foam
Adds flexibility and durability while keeping hose weight down, prevents kinking.
3. Inner Core
Ensures hose integrity and form over time.
4. Nylon Knit Wrap
Reinforces strength, adds to burst resistance, prevents kinking
5. Nylon Spiral Wrap
Provides basic strength, adds to burst resistance, prevents kinking
6. Outer Tube
7. Patented Foam
8. Inner Tube
Patented tri-extrusion process adheres innermost layers to each other for the ultimate in strength, durability and flexibility through extreme temperature fluctuations and everyday use.
The ½” diameter hose also features brass couplers, which provides an effective way to minimize leaks, giving a high‑quality seal and a coupling that’s free from damage. (Note: Around your home’s outdoor spaces, a 1/2″ hose will give you just about the same water flow as a 5/8″, but won’t be as heavy when it’s filled with water!)
Heavy Duty Quick Connector Set
Okay, so call me a green homeowner, but I did not know this nifty little device existed. As a cliché housewife that hates screwing or unscrewing things in, I have been guilty on more than one occasion of waiting to complete outdoor tasks so I could make my hubby change the garden hose nozzle heads.
(Righty tighty, lefty loosey my ass. Any kind of screwing sucks. Except, ya know… nevermind.)
So this little gadget it pretty frikkin’ sweet. With this neat little accessory, you can say goodbye to endless twisting and switch out your watering tools in seconds.
This heavy-duty Quick Connector provides an easy snap-on / snap-off connection between your hose and other watering tools. Simply attach the female connector to the end of your hose and the male connector to your sprinkler, nozzle or second hose. Then pop them together for a tight seal that lasts, use after use.
These amaze sauce gadget also feature solid brass construction for long-lasting durability, the comfortable rubber grips make connectors easy to secure, and the push-pull ring allows for instant connection between watering tools.
Gilmour Watering Nozzles
You can see it in the construction, and better yet, feel it in your hand. A great garden hose nozzle has the right heft.. the kind that makes you want to hold on to it day after day, season after season.
I like to grow a variety of plants in my little haven of a backyard (someday.. someday! It WILL look like Disneyland!!!!) and it is absolutely essential to have a nozzle that is suitable for flowers, shrubs, vegetables and trees… all with the flick of a tiny switch.
These nifty Gilmour pattern nozzles let you dial in the precise spray you want, from drenching coverage to a very fine mist, to a long range pinpointed stream… quickly, easily and above all, comfortably!
These really are a wonderful for your hand, if you spend a lot of time outdoors watering like I do! The all-in-one thumb control turns spray on and off and adjusts water flow too. No squeezing!!! The fullest flow and full control… With this one, it’s all in the thumb!
A stainless steel coupling and a metal body offer superior durability for this nifty little nozzle, while the thumb control eliminates squeezing for an uninterrupted stream of water in a variety of patterns. The impact-resistant coupling prevents corrosion for a durable connection that won’t fuse to your hose and stainless steel reinforcement at key impact points on spray head give a durable all-metal construction that stands up to frequent use, season after season.
There are overall 8 sprays to meet every watering and cleanup need including: Flower, Sweep, Garden, Shrub, Clean, Soft Wash, Rinse and Jet.
I personally enjoy the slip-resistant ergonomic grip for comfort and all-in-one thumb control that adjusts water flow with one touch. This little gizmo is quite literally a MUST HAVE for me, when I go from filling chicken and rabbit water bowls, to misting succulents, to drenching herbs to watering shrubs and garden beds all in a 50 foot radius EVERY. SINGLE. DAY!
Heavy Duty Front Control Cleaning Nozzle
So I have to be completely honest and say that I rarely using cleaning nozzles, since I am desperately in love with my power washer. But for those occasions when the girls let the chickens out of their coop and I just need to give my hand a rest with a front trigger that requires 4X less effort to squeeze and a slip-resistant grip that puts you in control… this things is my bitch.
This nozzle makes quick work of cleaning tasks with an easy-to-squeeze front control nozzle. The durable metal body with stainless steel coupling and tip stays strong even with frequent use (and frequent drops)!
The stainless steel, impact-resistant coupling prevents corrosion for a durable connection that won’t fuse to your hose, and the adjustable front tip alters spray from powerful jet to light rinse. There is also a hold-open clip which allows for a continuous spray without squeezing. Can we say WIN?!?!?
Sound like great products! I’m kind of wishing it was spring right now where I live…It’s so cold!
As a kid I HATED that we never got snow here, but now, as a home owner, I rather enjoy the lengthy outdoor working seasons… but still.. kinda jelly of your cold region peeps! 😉
Gingi, I like that it snaps off and on, the easier the better… enjoy your spring, our winter is just really starting, February is always a cold & snowy one. It’s good I no longer have to travel in it… it makes it so much easier to deal with.
You’ve got pretty well convinced to do a little garden this summer… since I’m hone I could tend to it early in the morning and water it at lunch ♡♡♡
You really should do a garden Launa, it is SUCH stress relief! And yeah, I am crazy excited over the ability to just snap the nozzle off on and on! Gonna make chores SO MUCH easier!
Wow, that looks like great quality. I need to replace my hose pipes as my puppy ate mine. But won’t do so until our drought is over.
I am really surprised our big moose of a golden retriever hasn’t chewed through our hoses… he chews through literally everything else! lol!
You are really ready for spring in the garden 🙂 Great post my dear!
Heck yeah! I have been planning my spring garden since the fall! haha… #impatient!
Oh if it’s already spring then it must be almost Autumn!
lol!
Oh, so unfair. As I’m reading about these amazing new tools it’s 36 degrees outside. I so want spring to be here already but I’m in the Southeast and spring won’t be here for a few more months. These looks like great tools to have on hand when gardening gets underway.
Yeah, but you guys get SNOW, which makes me crazy jealous!! 😉
Noooo fuck spring, let it be winter all year around!!! 🙂 I’m not much of a gardener I’m afraid.
Winter all year old?! OMG, you are like that evil queen in Narnia!!! Gonna start calling you the White Witch, haha
Great review, thanks! I’m ready for spring and for garden improvements!
Right?! I have been so impatient to get started on outdoor projects!!
This accessory looks really useful and helpful for the garden 🙂

Girl, I wish we were experiencing your weather right about now! I’m getting so annoyed with this cold already. It snowed yesterday and next week, my app is showing it’s supposed to snow 3 days in a row! Let’s switch, okay!? LOL! This seems like a great, easy to use hose! Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, girlie, and I hope you’re having a great week so far!

I had to laugh a bit… no, smile… that in California, uh.. spring started last week 🙂 I studied in California once and yes, while in other states there was snow, I could go to places wearing a T-shirt and a cardigan… that was so good 🙂 I must say that I like your post very much, but I am a bit ashamed to say that although my father was the one who created a great garden at our beach house, I don’t know anything about plants and even a hose, I can use, of course, but shame on me – I never did 🙁 He always did all… but the good news is that I am eager to learn and I liked to know about the hose and the gadgets! Hope you have a very lovely day!
