We’ve already established that I am a beauty and self-care product noob, but even I noticed that surge of sheet masks lining the shelves of Target and other outlet stores I frequent.
I have heard rave reviews about this new Korean skincare fad, but I didn’t get it. I make my own masks at home on occasion – which is messy and requires some effort to get all ingredients mixed and on hand, but overall effective. I also own a couple of pre-mixed mud masks that are sticky and messy to apply and even messier to wash off – I usually have to time these perfectly to line up with a shower and a time when the kids are asleep or not at home.
So when I received a couple of sheet masks in my Ipsy box earlier this month, I kind of shrugged it off. I’d try it, but the thought of dropping $3+ on a single use mask seemed excessive.
WELL! I didn’t expect to fall in love with sheet masks, let’s just say.
I know it seems silly, but the lack of mixing and prep (no mixing bowls, no measuring, no getting sticky fingers, no trying to avoid mud in the hair, etc.), coupled with the fact that you don’t have to wash or rinse your face afterward is enough to sell me on these. But the RESULTS of soft and plump skin that feels and looks refreshed and rejuvenated is where I become a raving fan.
So my new verdict? There’s nothing like a nice sheet mask for an at home spa day. While I still feel there is a place for detox mud masks and at home masks, I anticipate I’ll be using sheet masks as much – if not more! – in the future.
