It is Thanksgiving today (like… right now… as I type… it is THANKSGIVING DAY!) and I am thinking about all of the things I am thankful for.
Right now, I am thankful for my husband busily in the kitchen starting food prep as I type away at my blog in the dining room. I am thankful for our gorgeous home and books, and knick knacks and random material things, but the more I contemplate my lot in life, the more I realize it is not the stuff and the things, it is the PEOPLE in my life that I am most thankful for.
This Thanksgiving, Sharis Berries prompted me early on the start thinking about the people – not the things – that I am most thankful for. With the social media tag #SharisBerries they encouraged folks to start thinking about who they would love to bless with a thank you gift of flowers and yummy cheesecake and chocolate dipped strawberries.
This Thanksgiving, my husbands parents made the drive from Washington State to Central California to spend the day with their kids and grandkids, and we have been so excited for the visit. Our kids are growing so fast, and we know Grandma Connie Jo and Grandpa Bob miss seeing the kiddos growing up.
Jons parents keep up with the kids via Skype and on the phone, but these moments in person are just so special. The kids love their grandparents so much, and live for these visits. And I am so thankful that my kids have grandparents that – although living far away – are so active in the kids lives.
So after browsing the multiple and varied selections of desserts and flowers on Shari’s Berries website, we arranged for a delivery of 3 Dozen Long Stemmed Red Roses, 12 Hand Dipped Strawberries and 3 Gourmet Mini Cheesecakes to arrive at our doorstep yesterday, just in time for the grandparents to arrive from their 13 hour drive from Washington!
The packaged arrived on our doorstep just hours before their arrival, and Jonathan and the girls and I all feverishly unpacked the roses and vase, trimmed the edges, and got them in water. The desserts were perfectly chilled and in pristine condition. We were so giddy and excited to greet our weary travelers with this sweet surprise the day before Thanksgiving! What a precious way to saw thank you to people you are so thankful for!
The bouquet made an absolutely stunning display on our counter, and the boxes the desserts came in look like perfectly packages little presents! Each succulent strawberry is hand-dipped and covered with nuts, chocolate chips or additional drizzle, and the cheescake trio was to die for! The end result is a heavenly combination of flavors.
Grandma Connie Jo was so surprised, and was more than happy to share her desserts with the kiddos (and the parents too, haha!) and we spent a lovely reunion evening, having sweet treats and catching up the evening before Thanksgiving! We are so blessed, and have so much to be thankful for. It feels good to say thank you to special people in your life, and it is so important to keep the blessings of life in perspective.. nothing is more important or precious thank family and good friends!
Happy Thanksgiving Day my friends! I hope you all have a blessed day!
