I was initially planning on posting this toothbrush review last week. But then my son decided to make his entrance into the world, and my life got turned upside down and around by this amazing little newborn. (Not complaining, this has been quite the delightful little whirlwind!)
While life hasn’t exactly slowed down in the 4 days since Rowan was born, it has at least normalized to the point where I spend some selfish moments on my blog as he happily naps on my lap!
Anyhoo, on to the toothbrush review!!! First off, I am one of those individuals who wavers between being fanatical about my oral hygiene, and then I go to the other extreme of ignoring my mouth for days at a stretch (don’t judge me!).
In the first trimester of my pregnancy with Rowan, I got VERY nauseous every time I brushed my teeth, so I have to admit, I let my oral hygiene slide these last 9 months. I got to where I was brushing only once a day, and flossing only every other day. Upping my mouth care is actually on my New Years goals list (yes, I have already started my New Years list, haha!). So when I had the chance to try these brushes out – and after seeing the near 5 star ratings from verified purchases on Amazon – I jumped on the opportunity!
About Mouth Watchers
From the Mouth Watchers website:
Mouth Watchers was founded by Dr. Ronald Plotka, a nationally renowned Boston area dentist with over 40 years of dentistry leadership. Operating a large practice in Swampscott, MA, Dr. Plotka has pioneered several oral healthcare advancements such as:
- Dental Bonding
- Tooth Sealants
- Same-day Crown Fabrication
Dr. Plotka’s passion and expertise brought on the revolutionary Mouth Watchers Toothbrushes that have:
- Antimicrobial Technology infused into the bristles eliminating bacteria growth, leaving your brush clean for every use.
- A unique dual flossing bristle system that reaches down into hard to reach areas, where cavities form, and sweeps out cavity and gingivitis forming debris.
- Eliminates 99.9% of bacteria that builds up on bristles in 6 hours due to our proprietary silver bristle technology.
Mouth Watchers is proud to announce that they have been included as the only toothbrush in the “Best Products Evaluated During 2012” by the Clinicians Report (the Consumer Reports for dentists), founded by world famous dentist Dr. Gordon Christensen.
The Mouth Watchers Manual Toothbrush offers a breakthrough in oral care by providing the optimal cleaning experience. The revolutionary antimicrobial dual layer flossing bristles reach into areas untouched by prior toothbrushes, leaving teeth and gums feeling just as clean as after a professional dental cleaning.
These brushes feature Revolutionary Flossing Bristles™ – long, soft bristles with 1 micrometer diameter tips reach areas missed by other toothbrushes. The bristles reach deep into teeth grooves and the periodontal pockets (area between tooth and gum) for superior cleaning, while harder inner bristles ensure complete cleaning of the outer surfaces and massage the gums.
Why Silver Flossing Bristles?
A single toothbrush is home to millions of harmful microorganisms… bacteria thrive on a toothbrush after use! In the warm, moist environment of an average bathroom, bacteria on your toothbrush can double every 20 minutes resulting in as many as 100 million microorganisms on your toothbrush! This bacteria can lead to illness, cavities and gum disease.
Mouth Watchers innovative antimicrobial bristles eliminate 99.9% of bacteria build up on the toothbrush bristles. Using patented technology, silver suppresses a bacteria cell’s respiration and metabolism, thus inhibiting cell growth that normally causes infection, odor, illness, etc.
Silver has been used for the treatment of medical ailments for over 100 years due to its natural antimicrobial and anti-fungal properties. Even the Ancient Greeks and Romans used silver to store water and other liquids to prevent spoilage!
In addition to the silver action, the superior “Dual Action” Flossing Bristles™ reach plaque and food that other brushes miss. The Revolutionary Flossing Bristles™ are long, soft dental floss bristles for cleaning between teeth and in hard to reach locations; thicker, harder inner bristles ensure complete cleaning. The Eextra soft bristles are great for sensitive gums and braces!
Made from advanced PBT (polyester) plastics, these bristles outlast less expensive nylon bristles found on competitive toothbrushes. The patent pending Flossing Bristles™ are 10X thinner than bristles on ordinary toothbrushes and 1 micrometer (1/100th the diameter of human hair) at the tip!
My Thoughts on Mouth Watchers Toothbrushes
You can definitely FEEL the tiny bristles reaching hard to access areas. I have very compacted teeth in the sides and back, and I could feel the bristles working their way in and around the teeth and gum line. It was actually initially slightly uncomfortable, and it caused quite a lot of bleeding around my gums – but keep in mind my oral hygiene has gone to heck these past few months.
About my first brushing, I noticed a significant difference in the cleanliness of my teeth, and got almost no gunk on my floss when I followed up with my routine flossing (normally I get tons of trapped bacteria from between my tighter teeth). About 8 hours after the first brushing, I noticed a dull throbbing ache in my back teeth, and the gums were a tiny bit swollen. I was a tiny bit concerned, but decided to just power through it. Second brushing I noticed more bleeding gums (though not as severe) followed by more aching about 8 hours later. But I powered through once more!
By the third brushing there was no bleeding gums and only tingling around my gum line afterwards. Now my brushing has continued as usual, with no tingly after effects or bleeding. My guess is that my gums were just THAT sensitive to a thorough cleaning that each brushing was like going to the dentist to get a deep cleaning!
Now I really like the flossing between the teeth feeling while scrubbing up my back teeth. I feel like I am getting much more out of my morning and evening brushings now, and I am happy to take this brand on as my new go-to brush for mouth care! Look at me… getting a head start on my oral hygiene New Years resolution!! *does a little dance*

Thanks Rosanna!!! <3
Great products dear 😉 I’m working in restaurant at hotel 😉
I was wondering!!! Do you like it there? Sounds like a fun job!
I usually buy whatever brush is on sale at the time I go to buy one. They all seem to work the same to me.
You should give this one a try! You can feel the difference for sure…
Congratulations! Also, that sounds like a great toothbrush 🙂
Thanks! We are super proud parents to this little guy!!
Very interesting, never heard of these before! And looking forward to checking out further. Currently I switch between a traditional dentist freebie for work/travel and electric at home.
I sometimes borrow my husbands electric toothbrush, since it seems to get between my back teeth better… but these actually do the trick too!
Wow first time I heard of this type of toothbrush sound like it works great to keep mouth hygiene clean.
Yeah, I am gonna give it a good run.. so far I have no complaints!
Interesting post , I’m using electric toothbrush.
That’s what my husband uses! I believe Mouth Watchers has an electric version as well…
Am not too picky when it comes to toothbrush but this seems like a good product
Yeah, I am gonna see how it holds up and I might just stick with this brand!
I used to think all toothbrushes are the same, but when I started buying my own toothbrush, I noticed the difference. Some hurt my gums, some even can reach in between my teeth. Now, I’m very picky 😀 but this brand sounds interesting.

Yeah, I never considered toothbrush quality till I was into my 20s, haha…
I use a Sonicare toothbrush but you have me totally intrigued about these toothbrushes now. The fact that the bristles can access hard to reach areas is definitely very appealing!
That;s the one my husband uses! He prefer his, but I rather like these ones… I would be totally interested in trying their electric version!
flossing is the one thing I just cannot seem to do on a regular basis. I use an electric toothbrush and would not consider changing. But I do like the sound of these bristles 🙂
I believe they come in an election version as well…
Hi sweetie! To floss is one of the most important thing and those toothbrushes seem very good!

Congrats on the birth of your little one! Such wonderful news! The toothbrush seems useful and I have never heard of silver been using in the bristles so that is an interesting notion.
